Forgiveness and grace are more than words
I have made some mistakes in my life that I will carry with me as long as I live. Maybe some people haven’t done the same, but I am convinced that most have.
…
I know good people who have hired prostitutes. I know lots and lots of people, including some prominent coaches and reporters, who have not been faithful husbands. So forgive me if I don’t leap to conclusions that mistakes anyone has made or been accused of, other than acts of violence, add up to being an evil or immoral person.
…
I don’t know Hugh Freeze, other than meeting him a couple of times. I don’t know if he will be Auburn’s next head football coach. It is not my place to say he is the best choice or isn't. I know he has not been accused of violence or assault of any kind.
I don’t condone what Freeze has been accused of doing, but neither do I condone getting drunk and getting in a car. He has been thoroughly vetted, probably more thoroughly than any Auburn candidate ever. If John Cohen, Rich McGlynn and Chris Roberts are satisfied, that’s enough for me.

It's just a bad move. Forgiveness has nothing to do with it.
This splits the fanbase from the word go, builds zero excitement around the program which won't help us in the portal, we'll have to watch more Gus style Sunbelt level offense and will likely be hanging another losing season on an already unpopular coach.
If this guy is hired, it's because Rane and Harbert want it. Can't argue with money, but we're in for a long cold winter in football.

PM doesn’t know shite, and hasn’t for years.
I can’t believe people pay to see what he posts.

He has quite the loyal following. However, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen someone who gets paid to have “inside information” be so consistently wrong in his opinions of what’s going on, despite his frequent open ended disclaimers of “may or may not.”

None of them had any sources about the AD hire, not Hoke, Tate, PM anyone.
Robert’s ran a tight circle of trust that probably included just one person, himself. Now he’s got Cohen in there.
Everything else is clickbait noise or agents shilling for their clients (looking at you Sexton)

Sexton runs it all. Pretty sure he is even the agent of new A.D. Cohen.
Sexton wants Freeze at Auburn full stop.
If it doesn’t happen, he is about to make things very difficult since he owns a lot of the market.

No he won't. He'll just start pushing another one of his clients. He only wants Auburn to hire Freeze because Liberty is already paying him a ton and a raise from that means a big payday for Jimmy.

Hugh is better than Gus. If AU can find someone better, then I am all for it. But there's no other candidate out there who has a resume better than Freeze.

Pretty sure he’s Raine’s mouthpiece.

This seems like an overstatement. You are giving him full credit for Ole Miss wins which he obtained by cheating. He’s done a good job at Liberty, but you need to factor in the late-season swoon as part of his resume.

It is becoming clear that high level coaches don’t want to deal with our Admin Antics. It makes no sense, givin our facilities, NIL and fanbase. Nebraska named a coach already and it’s a terrible job compared to AU. Hugh is interested and as a coach highly qualified, but has made some mistakes. However, since he has been at Liberty he has proven those egregious things are in his rear view. The DM thing is a nothing burger once you understand the facts of the matter. AU is at a crossroads of sorts, we either suck it up and hire him, or possibly relegate ourselves to the SEC Cellar for a decade.

Sounds like it’s gonna happen if they are writing shill articles like that

Just Marshall’s writing style . He wrote a humdinger about the Hardin fiasco from last year.
I will say this about Phillip, he might not have many sources left, but of all the AU guys he might be the closest to the Good Ole Boys that we have. He didn’t put this out for shits and giggles

Hugh is better than Gus.
Gus played for a national championship, has an SEC championship and played for another. His winning percentage at Auburn is higher than what Freeze posted at OM. He out recruited Freeze. There is no measure that Freeze out-performed Malzahn except for whatever handicap you give him for being at Ole Miss, which should probably be considered off-set by the fact Freeze was found to be cheating by the NCAA.
And yeah, his style of offense is the same Sunbelt level option trickery crap Gus ran, except more pass heavy. Which, given some of our boosters still insist it's 1983, will probably be encouraged out of him if he's hired. I'm sure we'll hear the "we run the football at Auburn" lines not too far into his press conference... if he's hired.

Freeze offense is nothing like Gus, especially the passing game. He uses multiple reads from every level of,the defense in the pass game, Gus pretty much\ runs a one option route system, and doesn’t incorporate levels in his pass game.

Phillip would know about being drunk and behind the wheel of a few cars in his lifetime ...

Jimmy Sexton is the most powerful human being in college football. No one else is even in the same solar system.
