Since the BCS started in ‘98 no teams involved in the National Title game have played each other the following year but that will change here. There have been 3 OT matchups in the last 7 meetings and in the last 5 regular season games Bama has won 2 and scored 112 points while LSU has won 3 and scored 110 points. Miles is 3-3 vs Saban. Last year in the first meeting, Bama missed 4 FG’s and was intercepted at the 1 and the Tide lost at home in OT 9-6. The National Championship game was a beatdown with Bama having 384-92 yard and 21-5 FD edges. LSU did not even cross midfield until the middle of the 4Q. The #1 Tide continue to be the media’s bulletproof juggernaut after last week’s 38-7 win over Miss St but they did benefit from +3 TO’s. QB McCarron is averaging 211 ypg (69%) with an 18-0 ratio and is #1 in the NCAA in pass efficiency while the Tide D is #1 in most categories including allowing just 57 rush ypg (1.9) this year (72, 2.4 last year!). LSU does come in extremely confident off back-to-back wins over Top 25 teams SC and A&M as frosh RB Hill has back-to-back 100 yard games and the Tiger D once again is no slouch allowing just 243 total ypg (#3). The concern has to be QB Mettenberger who is avg 177 ypg (57%) with a 7-4 ratio. LSU does have significant schedule edge off a bye while the Tide is on its 3rd away in 4 games. Miles said after the win vs SC earlier this year that, “Death Valley is a place where opponents’ dreams come to die.” While I don't think Alabama's dream dies here, I do think this one will come down to the wire!

Fair assessment. Should be a great game. Looking forward to elite competition and no injuries.

There's going to be a lot of want in this game.

I have no problem with him predicting Bama to win, seeing that it's very possible. It's the arrogant douchebags like that poster Bhamdore who says that there's no way Bama's held under 30 pts you can't have a civil conversation about the game with.

Phil Steele showing respect, I like it.

Gonna be a good one.

His summary of game 1 last year was funny to read

quote:

Bama’s first possession got to the LSU27 but they missed a 44 yd FG. Bama’s 2nd poss got to the LSU23 but they lost 10 yds then missed a 50 yd FG. Bama got to the LSU24 but they lost 7 yds and brought in their short kicker to attempt a 49 yd’r but it was blk’d. Bama got to the LSU17 but settled for a 34 yd FG to lead 3-0. At this point Bama had a 181-55 yd edge but only led 3-0 and LSU, thanks to an offsides on 3&1 and a defensive holding on an incomplete pass on 3&4, would get a 19 yd FG on the final play of the half to tie it. LSU was int’d and ret’d to their 4 but a penalty brought it back to the 35 and Bama settled for a 46 yd FG, 6-3. LSU got a 33 yd IR to the UA15 setting up a 2 yd “drive” for a 30 yd FG to tie (14:13 4Q). Richardson ripped off a 24 yd run to the LSU28 and Bama had a great call. Maze, out of the shotgun, threw deep and the TE caught the ball, came down on his back with it at the 1 yd line but the LSU DB wrestled the ball away from him and amazingly it was ruled an int and LSU got off a 73 yd punt with 9:00 left but neither crossed the 50 and the game went to OT. In OT Bama took a sk and missed their FOURTH FG of the game, a 52 yd’r and LSU got a 25 yd FG for the win.

He picked bama to win the NC last year and he openly roots for that team throughout the year. This is the reason for his homertastic summary of 11/5/11

Looking forward to another great game. McCarron and Bama have yet to face any real adversity this year. When chaos goes down in Death Valley, and it WILL happen, we will see how they handle it.

He's excusing bama's loss in their house last year. It's the only excuse in the entire piece and it's out of place.

Classic LSU responses so far in this thread.

If we do win 17-16 Baton Rouge will burst into flames.

I'm not surprised, haven't seen a "forecast" yet sayin LSU will win. But hey, kinda been like that all year.

But when the speed of this game hits 88 mph, your gonna see some serious shite.

I like the revisionist history of 4 missed FGs. We blocked one but yeah, Bama meant for that. We weren't even there or anything. Stupid fan is stupid.
