Good of excuse as any. What's he using now at Ole Miss? Can't recruit with the KKK showing up on campus. LOL.

True but my only point is that LA talent and recruiting is its best friend and worst enemy. Yall will be a 8-10 win team every yr just with talent and that makes it hard to change imo.

They tried to fire him for three straight seasons. Kinda hard to recruit under those conditions. Petrino has done nothing to improve on the defensive side of the ball for Arkansas.

I don't follow Arkansas football that closely but I lived in Fayetteville for a few of those years and I never sensed that he was even remotely in danger of being fired up until the last year. Wasn't Broyles always supportive of Nutt? Of course some fans wanted him out but the mainstream media up there is a rubber stamp, it wasn't like he was getting hammered every day.

He hasn't improved the defense that much but...

Nutt left them with

QB-Casey Nutt and his supposedly less incompetent brother LOL
RB-one 5'7 running back, talented in his own way but far from a stable of talented backs.
WR-London Crawford
TE-DJ Williams, I don't know how he got him

and one really talented lineman and he was a senior.

I don't know how much of Petrino's first class would have been there anyway but I know he hadn't signed Tyler Wilson, I don't think Mallett would have come with him there, and Joe Adams was going to USC. He didn't leave them much at all.

Go check our last three classes.
Houston Nutt is doing a better job recruiting to Ole Miss than he did at Arkansas.
He's also doing a better job recruiting to Ole Miss than Bobby Petrino is doing recruiting to Arkansas.
Go look at it.

I agree w/ you to a point.
LSU football is a cash cow now. The last 12 yrs of football have spoiled the hell out of Tiger fans.
Butts will stop showing up in the seats and that costs $, which funds lots of things @ LSU.
The business end won't allow the Hallman days anymore, and shifted the admins/taf to take a quicker line as ya'll and Florida(Zook) we're already doing.
Once you taste success, you want more.

The Liberty Bowl crowd looks like a Mississippi State game with all that Camo.

Go check out the revised ratings. You know the one that rates the class based on the players that actually show up. Get your facts straight before posting any more ignorant statements. I believe Arkansas came in at 16 and Ole Piss 18. Did I miss something?

Those schedules had a plethora of sorority house pillow fights on them. Not impressed.

Did they move to the SEC after he left? Facts are facts. He had Louisville 1 win for the BCS CG, his replacement had 1 .500 season. and 2 losing seasons.

What was Saban's record his first 2 years at Mich St? Its not like Petrino took over an Arky team 2 years removed from a NC loaded with NFL caliber talent.

Arky's problem all along, not Nutt.

Good post Tiger. Ignorant posters don't realize that Nutt left Petrino very little. That’s why the Hogs only lose one starter on Offense and 2 on defense. We will be pretty good next year.

Please explain why you think we won't be pretty good next year with 18 – 19 returning starters. That is unless it taxes your simple brain too much.

Yeah, Ole Miss had 16 returning starters last year.
It takes more than returning starters.
Those starters actually have to be good.

Arky will be better next year, however, so will MSU, LSU, and Auburn. My target for Arky will be 8-4.

I think we should be in the 9-3 range next season. tough games are: @Georgia and @Auburn but we get Ole Miss, Bama, LSU at home. Florida rotating off and Vandy on Helps a lot. To win nine we have to improve special teams and pass defense, and of course mallett needs to return and work on his footwork in the offseason. if this doesnt happen it will be a lot like this year because the west is going to be brutal next season

And had Nutt used Dexter like he should have your record would be much better.

No.
Our record would be one game better. (provided Dexter didn't get hurt being 160 pounds and all)

Pehaps. He's a damn game changer that's for sure.
