Would one of you Mississippi fans support your argument that Nutt is recruiting better than Petrino?
Rankings? Arkansas was ranked higher than Mississippi last year according to Rivals. Hell, your top three recruits didn't even make it to campus.
What about production? Our offense is better than yours, despite all the skill guys being underclassmen and Petrino recruits. You were better than us by a single game this year and we did it on the backs of underclassmen and Juco's that Petrino brought in. You did it on the backs of a huge senior class many of whom are headed to the NFL.
How does any of that point to Nutt recruiting better?
How can you seriously believe that?

That's just false, buddy.
Three of our top recruits weren't on the team at one point in time, yes.
But, one didn't make it.
One had a medical condition and is back with the team, and One withdrew from the university but might come back next year.

We all know it will be a shock to see either Tig or Drummond on the field.
But whatever, even assume they come back. Care to address the overall point of my post? How in the world can you claim Nutt is recruiting better than Petrino?

Tig Broke of a 50 yard touchdown run in practice. He had a miracle recovery and is back on the team.
Drummond might never see the field, but it's not like Nutt was recruiting players that didn't have the grades to get in.
There's a difference.

I thought Tig was a safety?
But again...whatever.
Why do you refuse to address the "Nutt is recruiting better than Petrino" line that Mississippi fans like to say so often?

If, after 10 years, Petrino has yet to win an SEC title then Arkansas fans will likely have grown tired of him.
Like wmr is saying, consistent progress is pretty much the only expectation I have for Petrino. 5-7, 8-5, etc, etc. If we get to 9 wins next year, great. If we only get to 8, I'd hope there were some extenuating circumstances that were behind that.
As for recruiting, like most sane, intelligent people can comprehend...there's still a month til signing day. STFU and let the chips fall before you start talking shite about Ole Miss recruiting. What was OM's rivals ranking at this point LAST year? Oh yeah. Forgot about that one, douche bags?
Oh, and the WAY Petrino recruits, regardless of stars, has made Arkansas a better program. No more signing 8 WR's in one class just because you found 8 that wanted to sign. No more signing 10 athletes and saying, "oh he can play WR, QB, RB, S, CB, LB, or even DE!" He's going after depth, stars be damned. There are guys with STARS that we could add to this class that would do nothing but hinder the progression of the program.
I'm not going to get into the Nutt debate again, but much like anyone else who has 10 years of experience in dealing with something compared to someone else that has 2, I'm confident in my position.

12-12 at Arky with a good chance to fall to 12-13 with a loss here to ECU of all teams. He's also just 5-11 in SEC play. Why does everyone think he's any good?
Go look at their roster, it is mostly freshmen and soph that are playing right now.
Petrino is one of the best offensive minds in the country, his weakness is his defense. If he gets a solid defense under that team and small amount of talent Ark will make a strong run at Atlanta.

Petrino will develop a solid defense the same year that Miles plays 15 freshmen.

There are rumors of the coaching staff being improved at Arkansas, we should know in a couple weeks if that will come true.

yup, and his strong offensive mind is why he couldn't put up more than 20 pts on freakin cusa team yesterday.

It's funny how you guys have gotten my fellow Arkansas fans riled up.

How'd that LSU Ark game go? I seem to remember LSU needing a last minute play to win it and that was against the worst defense in the SEC. Petrino is playing mostly sophs on the team that will give you an idea of where the talent and experienc level of Ark is.
Petrino can only call the plays he can't execute them and mallet is a solid QB but he needs work still that is why I don't think he'll go this year.

Maybe Petrino is overrated, maybe he is not. Only time will tell about that and he is only two years into his job at Arky, so it's hard to say too much about his performance thus far. Petrino inherited a different program than Nutt did when he took over. My opinion of Nutt is that he is a good coach, not a great coach. He likes the old school running game, which unfortunatly is boring as hell. I think Nutt got tired of the constant interference for the great coach on the hill telling him how to run his program and finally just said frick it, I'll continue to take their money till they run me off. At this point he did the bare minimum to keep his job. Long is in charge now with Petrino at the helm, but the great coach still breathes, so time will tell. Petrino has already gave the fans something Nutt wasn't giving, HOPE. Before Petrino, some of the fans I know would do yard work while listening to games, now they want to watch it on TV. They are excited about the direction the program is heading. Petrino has a lot of high hurdles to clear as far as recruiting is concerned. Can he do it? Only time will tell.

Yeah, time will tell.
We are one of the youngest teams in the country this year, and we went 8-5.
Thats about what I expected, especially with the schedule we played: @Bama, @UF, @Miss, @LSU.
Its too early to call Petrino overrated, and its too early to say he'll never succeed at Arkansas.
Our statistics have improved since day one, even though we had a crappy game last night in a ghetto bowl.
