Please post a link where LSU was against it.

There is absolutely no way that permanent, cross-division rivals are done away with. If you get rid of Alabama/Tennessee, that means you will also have to get rid of Auburn/Georgia - one of the oldest rivalries in all of college football. There is no way the latter will ever happen.

I remember USC and UCLA did it a few years ago and have to each give up a timeout or something like that. I don't recall all the specifics but they made a big thing about it and might have gotten the rule changed.
I remember the game you are referring to, but I think I had heard since then during a game that it just had to be contrasting colors. I think I was watching the Boise ST Va Tech game.

The SEC said frick tradition the day we expanded in 1992 and we REALLY said frick tradition when we expanded this year. Nobody cares outside of those 4 places.

I guess that's why 9 of the 12 schools voted to keep it as is then, huh? And besides, 3 of the 4 schools are 3 of the biggest power brokers in the SEC. They don't just influence policy in this case, they dictate it.

PS. I can't wait until A&M comes to tuscaloosa. I will be on the 50 yard line 3-4 rows up. I will make this a must see, just to watch Bama stomp a mudhole and have you crying just like you did year after year against texas.
Lol so you did refuse to play them for 40 years? I thought your traditional rivalry games are of the utmost importance. Get over yourself, gump. Get ready to get rolled in Tuscaloosa. Johnny is coming.

LSU and Florida I assume are 2. They're the only teams that drew a short stick - no rich history, and another tough game for both.
Ignorant at its finest. LSU ranks as the second highest SEC team in history at #9. DWI

I was reading it as, the Florida LSU game doesn't have a rich history. Which isn't entirely inaccurate

Yeah, for now. But when we expand again it's either break them up or put Ut-Bama-Aubie and UGA all in one 4 team pod which would throw off completive balance. The day is coming when those annual games end.

Oh Jesus Christ shup up. You could not sound more pretentious if you tried.

I guess to explain this and make it easier to understand in ATM phag terms is this....You guys know how Texas ran the Big 12 right but they collected more money than any other school? Bama runs the SEC in every way however we all get equal shares of the revenue. Suck it up

John, OP, this is a fricked up post. As an Aggie, you know we value tradition. shite, I'm beyond pissed that tu won't schedule us OOC on Thanksgiving. FSU, GT, and Clemson have no problem playing their in-state, OOC, SEC rivals. It's a tradition. And that is what makes college football bad arse.
We joined the most tradition rich conference in the nation, we are the most tradition rich school in the nation. What better fit? The least we could do is to make damn sure that Alabama/Tennessee, UGA/Auburn, and LSU/Florida get played each year.
Let's honor tradition and play these games.

and they make fun of Alabama's education... you need some reading comprehension skills.
Here we go, lets try this again. I will help you out a little.
Funny little stat since you want to talk about the 40 years, actually it's 41 and it's only 5 more years than A&M's wins over texas. ouch. Ready to make that 1-4 against Bama all time?
PS. the last time a "big" name scrambling QB played bama he ended up on the side line crying like a bitch.

Tensions further built when, after both 1906 and 1907 contests, Auburn head coach Mike Donahue threatened to cancel the series if Alabama head coach "Doc" Pollard continued employing his elaborate formations and shifts.[4] The series was indeed suspended after the 1907 game when the schools could not come to agreement over the amount of expenses to be paid players, as well as from where officials for the game should be obtained.[5]

Bama and UT are the most storied programs in the SEC. But, bama is way above UT.
