Permanent OOC Opponents

Thoughts?

I kinda liked having LSU and Tulane play every year just because of the former significance of those games... but overall I'm more interested in seeing LSU play a rotating schedule of interesting out of conference BCS opponents instead of just the same OOC team year after year

That would be interesting. Set the east up with ACC set the west up with big 12.

UF - FSU
UGA - GT
USC - Clemson
KY - UVA
Vandy - Duke
UT - UNC

Bama - OU
LSU - UT
Ark - OSU
Ole Miss - Kansas
aTm - TTech
Auburn - West Virginia
MSU - TCU

tbh, I kinda messed up when writing it I meant Perm as in OOC games against that conf but still rotate who plays who in the OOC games. For instance OU 1 year Texas The Next, so on and so on. But everyone went with it so I didn't feel like explaining that I've been up since 3am and comprehension is low.

People are still forgetting that Vandy has a permanent OOC opponent in the East as well in Wake Forest, as does Kentucky with Louisville. I wouldn't think anyone in the east would want to mandate another tough ooc game...

Purely in terms of "want to see" I'd love to see our rivalry with Southern Miss resumed yearly. Play them game 1 and OM game 12(actually doing in '14 and '15). Of course, this neglects the fact that we have nothing to gain and alot to lose in said game and have to play every other year in Hattiesburg in maybe one of the 10 worst d1 stadiums in the country.

The only teams from the Big 12 I'd be particularly interested in LSU playing would probably be OU, Texas, and maybe Ok State.

I know LSU and TCU are scheduled to have a home and home but I think that was more about recruiting in Eastern Texas than anything else.

I don't really see much point in having LSU travel to Kansas, ISU, KSU, Texas Tech, or Baylor

KSU wasn't a bad game tbh. ETA: at the cotton bowl.

But I agree, OU, Texas, OSU + WVU & TCU are the ones I would want to play. At the same time Ole Miss and Miss State most likely doesn't sound good to them.

Mannie Diaz's defense in year 2 should be pretty good at Texas. I miss having him on our sideline because of how animated he was, but Chris Wilson has more than filled his shoes

We will have home field advantage in Hattiesburg. All Southern fans will be watching the LSU game that week. It's like when we went to Oxford in 2010. Did anyone not notice that felt like a home game to us?

Winning record against Baylor, A&M and Texas. Why would they think we were inferior to them.

I never said inferior. I was implying that its not that attractive of a game.

Hell yes. I'm all for this matchup. Both schools have a lot in common plus I have family that attended UVA.

Would be interesting to research all schools that have a winning record against Texas. According to one of my friends who is an Infectious Disease physician in Jxn and a UT grad State is one of the few in the nation.

Nevermind, found it

If we throw out pre-1932 games, including only games while schools were SEC members (including Tulane pre-1966 and Georgia Tech pre-1964), the Horns are an even better 34-15-2 (.686). Only Mississippi State and Auburn have winning records against the Longhorns while in the SEC (South Carolina and Vanderbilt have not played the Horns as SEC members).

a good idea for the SEC to do the same?

No, I do not think their should be a contract like the Pac-12 and Big10 have.
When one of those conferences have a bad year as a whole, that means the other's SOS will be fricked.
Besides, its douchey IMO. Play who you want, regardless of which conference they come from.

So 1 set OOC game determines the others?

Do you really think that most of those teams will schedule hard OOC games once this new agreement starts?
No, to me this is a way for them to start closing themselves off away from the rest of the country, espically teams in the SEC. They will use this as a reason not to schedule more hard ooc games to make the trip to the NCG easier.

Personally I would like for the sec to set deals with- Pac-10, Big-12, and Big-10 for OOC games. It would help end the whole "who deserves to be in the NCG" thing a little more.

Thats just my opinion thou.

ETA: and I know that will never happen.

the big names that could be matched up...Texas, Oklahoma, Bama, LSU, the list goes on.

Not for the Big XII, it doesn't.

OU/LSU
UT/Bama...

Then who for them? TCU? Texas Tech? Okie Lite? We'd still have big names left, but they...not so much.
