The 2016 and 17 classes are the two worst we’ve ever had.

Evaluators for both rivals and 247 seem to have a 90% miss rate when judging talent in Tennessee

There is a reason we are so bad. We are literally a roster of .86 3 stars.

His best class had like 7 4 stars. The only one that was ever decent was whaley, and he has been underwhelming. Almost all of them have either sat 3rd string their entire careers, or have retired due to medical hardship. The only one that doesnt fit this description is whaley, storey (LOL dude can't throw 15 yards without winding up), and calloway (quit football all together after our coach removed him for being an a-hole.

The bust rate of Top 250 kids at Tennessee during the Butch era was unreal. And not like "oh, he just became an ok player" but "he can't play in the SEC" level bust.

- Todd Kelly Jr (#64)
- Dillon Bates (#96)
- Derrell Scott (#127)
- Daniel Helm (#208)
- Drew Richmond (#56)
- Jack Jones (#131)
- Quart'e Sapp (#228)
- Sheriron Jones (#247)
- Tyler Byrd (#93)
- Marquill Osborne (#188)
- Maleik Gray (#80)
- Eric Crosby (#215)

I mean, that's insane. That's 20% of a roster over a 3 year period that was ranked in the Top 250 and legitimately should not start at an average SEC school as an upperclassman.

It also explains why Arkansas was so bad last season. Even if the talent had played out to form, they were still looking at being at the bottom of the West talent wise (though close enough to the bottom half that it was negligible with good coaching and some overachievement).

Throw in a high bust rate from of that group and all of a sudden you are staring at a massive talent gap there.

Todd Kelly was a very good freshman and was completely destroyed by a lack of s&c.

Jack Jones had a great debut on the road in Tuscaloosa in 2015, injuries did him in.

The rest were absolute shite, but the evaluators for in state kids just flat out Miss way too often. Obviously you have kids like Tee, Jalen Ramsey, Cade, Trey, etc. that are destined to be really good, but the state has a high # of busts regardless of where they attend.

That's because Middle Tennessee is a bunch of pvssies. Gotta go drop that cash in Memphis or get some of those country strong boys in the NET.

Just more gump wound-licking.

Every time you post 44-16 you're just wound licking yourself. You have to deflect from what Bama has done to your team. You know, the whole 8 in a row. 10 points in 3 years.

I completely understand. That has to sting.

Memphis is bust city, but the mid state has become way overrated recently.

HS football just isn’t that great here regardless of what they try and say. There’s a couple programs like MBA and Ensworth that churn out studs but Murfreesboro has been slaw city, only to be pimped by Buck and the boyz at NPA

It's a month later and he still can't help himself but to try and shite all over one of the very few decent threads that have been started about SEC Football recently.

Nice job staying on track, SoG. Very good thread.

Thank you for avoiding the temptation of pointing out that 2 of LSU's three losses came to teams with less roster talent, and that really is a great example of underachievement.

That's just objectively wrong. We were tied with our conference records IIRC and we win the tie breaker with the head to head
