They gave him $20,000 for his charity party or whatever... what would JR have to gain be lying about it?... a whole lot less than McClover

Cole Bennett chimes in with this account:

"Stanley signed in 2003 with me. His dorm room was next to mine at Sewell Hall. He had no car and and the only clothes he wore were some Auburn issued workout gear and some stuff from a senior bowl he played in. I saw him wear very little personal stuff. Note, his best friend was J. Rosegreen who has stated that he didn't get paid to play. If Stanley had recieved money, then he didn't spend it on anything anyone of us could see and someone who is dumb enough to take cash like that would blow it almost instantly on stupid, very obvious purchases.

As for the handshakes, we all pretty much walk the same path after the game, basically a reverse Tiger Walk. You pass by the basketball parking lot where the big money boosters park their RVs. I've never saw any of them walk up and do anything like a money handshake, and I've walked out with or behind about every player of note from 2003-2007 and never saw anything even remotely suspicious. Unless some of the random 8 year olds were slipping $100s in pockets I'm telling you it didn't happen.

Chaz has an axe to grind, anything he says different is a lie. I played with him and was rehabed by the same training staff that "ended" his career. I broke my ankle and was rehabbed back to 100% and we were both starters when we got injured (not at the same time though).

Troy at one point was majoring in the same thing that J. Palmer got his degree in, Wireless Engineering. So take that for what it's worth."

You don't think Ronnie Brown or any other former players could donate twice that much

for those that don't know, Palmer replaced Reddick at RT after Reddick graduated... so why would the coaches tell TR wireless engineering was too tough but not Palmer?...

If he's lying and is caught, then the amount of bad press would kill anything he's accomplished with his foundation or publicity.

I really doubt the guy is lying for the following reasons:

1) Football players get money at big schools
2) He is a football player

If it was one guy saying he got paid, then it wouldn't look nearly as bad. You've got 4 guys in different situations all saying they were paid. The story about having the kid switch his major is the worst if true. They basically screwed a kid's future if that is true. Regardless paying players is a cash only business usually. I'd be shocked if these guys weren't paid. I don't want to know who gets paid on the Bama roster. We've probably got walk-ons with bling.

I disagree. Players never talk about getting money and you're naive if you think it isn't happening. If you admit that you or your program broke the rules, then it invalidates everything you accomplished at the school and hurts the program that most of these guys come to love. If they have loyalty to Auburn, then they have a lot to lose.

I don't understand why four different guys would just manufacture stories about being paid. Even if all four were mad, then it doesn't make all four of them liars. I have a hard time believing that four Auburn players decided to lie when I was friends with players at much smaller schools who admitted to either taking money or knowing guys who were taking money.

I think you can spin this one if you want but having four guys come out with believable stories looks very bad. I have a much easier time believing the other players are lying because they've got a reason to. They want to protect the school they love. These guys don't have much to gain by this and HBO certainly isn't going to make them rich. I actually think they're going to take a much bigger beating in the public and piss a lot of people off. I probably wouldn't come out even if I was angry.

lets watch the thing before jumping to this conclusion... the asshat brookes himself said only Reddick's story was believable... the same guy who was a complete douche while at Auburn and was turned down for a GA job about 8 months ago.

What reason does JR have to "protect" auburn.... he'd simply wouldn't say anything... the two guys were best friends while in college and were roommates.
