The difference between Bama basketball and Kansas football is that football brings in the money. It has been said over and over that basketball can never compete with football at Alabama, and that's a legitimate point - but the success of Alabama's football program is not all negative for basketball. It means we have money, and it means we have a brand already established in college athletics that can spill over into basketball.

In other words, our basketball program may be Kansas or Duke football right now, but we could be Oklahoma or Ohio State basketball, which is my optimistic expectation.

Exactly. Those two programs are great examples of how a football power can also be very good at basketball. No reason Alabama (or LSU or Tennessee) for that matter can't duplicate Oklahoma's success in basketball.
