Canary in the coal mine for the long term future of major college sports?

Costs escalate for the average fan
They drop out to new and different alternatives
Sport dies off, but awareness and change come too late

On the field, the officiating during football games has devolved into a punch line, with numerous jokes made at the expense of Pac-12 referees. After Utah’s game against Washington in the Pac-12 championship game ended with a no-call on what appeared to be a blatant pass interference, an irate Ute coach Kyle Whittingham said in the press conference he was used to the poor officiating.

Yeah but they defended the frick out of the cocksucker that tossed Benny Snell in last year’s bowl game.

frick ‘em.

They both have funny coaches but one is consciously so and the other is accidentally. One is offensively competent while one is usually impotent. They're foils maybe.

Read about what happened during Washington State/USC if you really want to hate conference officials.

attendance is awful in the Pac 12

Arizona, Cal, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Oregon St sell about 75% of their tickets IF they are lucky

As USC goes so does the perception of the Pac 12.

You can't put your hands on officials.

2 of my kids were/are @ P12 schools. Neither the students nor alumni give a frick about sports, casual interest at best.

That won't change anytime soon.

I believe the last 2 major cable providers just dropped the Pac 12 Network.

100%. A lot of you kids care more about video game streaming than anything else. College football is missing the mark big time, especially given the natural advantages of having thousands of kids enrolled as students at over a hundred FBS programs. The format needs to be more decentralized and more encompassing of lower tiered schools, IMO.

Was watching SEC Network on Monday and they were talking about the Pac 12. Said the attendance was announced at 35K but actual attendance was waaaaaay below that.

What a mess they have in that conference.

Everything is a-OK with Larry Scott. As long as that $4.8 million dollar salary check keeps clearing, nothing to see here, move along.

They'd better wake up and get their shite together in a hurry. That conference is well on it's way to becoming #6 in the G5.

The crazy thing is the PAC has plenty of good coaches just at the wrong places.
