I guess Ole Miss should have that many fans there. How many years have they had to save up for it?

If they win, should we expect a separate sign in Vaught Hemingway commemorating winning at Legion Field, thus being SEC Champions of Legion Field?

It's not like Dallas has a shitload to offer that Birmingham doesn't. In fact, I'd rather drive to and from Birmingham than Dallas.

ehh...I don't know about that. I'd much rather go to Dallas.

That's why I usually stay in Ft. Worth

But McKinney Street out around SMU is real fun too

For a weekend? What the frick is there to do during a weekend in Dallas aside from sit in traffic on I-20 all day?

I've been to Dallas more times than I can count, and I've still never figured out the appeal. It may be a great place to live (I don't know), but it's not a great place to visit.

ETA: My point really is that I care about the football game. That's it. The only city where the extracurricular activities would matter to me would be New Orleans, and that's because I'm very familiar with the city and have family who live there. And the Superdome is within walking distance to bars and the casino.

I-20 is a good ways south of Dallas. And the times I've been, it took no time to get in and out of the busy part of the city.

Can one of the people claiming that Legion Field attendants are regularly robbed, assaulted, et al provide a link to the police report or news article reporting the last crime that occurred at a major sporting event like the BBVA bowl?

Local residents who thow this out like a fact are an embarrassment and part of the reason why Legion Field is the only option in the area. . . And no Bamatards, Tubberville-Denny Stadium does not count as most major cities don't rely on a CFB stadium for sporting events

I so badly want to disagree with you but you're dead on. B'ham area residents, many of them Bama fans, are a pathetic frickin joke. They constantly bitch about everything and are the most overly negative, overdramatic, miserable aholes on earth when it comes to the area. I've never EVER seen people that unnecessarily s### on their hometown as much as B'ham area residents do. Granted, the area around Legion Field is awful but the stadium itself functional after they removed the upper deck. The main downtown area has improved considerably in recent years as well as the immediate over the mountain areas like Homewood despite all the miserable locals always putting it down.

Haha, I know what you mean. Funny thing is, those same people are deathly afraid of any area of any city that's considered "downtown." They shite on Bham because they're to stupid and uncoordinated to drive from Hoover to the Civic Center for their Luke Bryan concert without getting hopelessly lost, and potentially "mugged."

My thing is, you have people that are genuinely excited to be attending a game at Legion Field and much needed bringing revenue to the entire Greater Birmingham area and they are basically telling them it's a dump and they will get mugged . . . This is why we can't have nice things

It is the EXACT reason B'ham can't have the really nice things. Anything project that requires any regional cooperation whatsoever from area voters and the various local governments is quickly beat down and defeated by these miserable naysayers. The MAPS project vote in 1998 which would have raised the county sales tax a measley penny on the dollar to fund a nice multipurpose sports and convention facility was soundly defeated by these idiots. Oklahoma City PASSED the exact same MAPS program the exact same year and built The Ford Center and the Bricktown development and they now have an NBA franchise in part because they aren't clueless miserable idiots like so many B'ham area voters.

Heck, you can't even build a world class Grand Prix road course with 100% private funds like Barber Motorsports Park without some Bham area people finding fault even with it. It continually amazes me how insanely negative a lot of Bham area residents are about the area.

MCB sold 55,800 of which approximately 47k were Vandy fans. Most of the students were out of town and did not attend the game. Not bad for a fan base that does not exist.
