Yeah, because we all know the QB who scored 30 passing TD's and 20 rushing TD's with his offense doesn't know any plays.
He didnt in that interview. Just saying.

He sure looked confused out there this year, that's for sure.
This isn't a debate about Cam's ability in college. Why are you making it one? This is a debate that Cam will suck as a pro. Some think he will some think he won't. Your opinion is no more right or wrong than the writer of this blog so please get over yourself.

Heisman, 2010 SEC Offensive Player of the Year as well as the 2010 AP Player of the Year, Maxwell/ O'Brien/Camp Awards. Take that to the bank.
BCS Champions and best of all 28-27.
I like Cam Newton- I smiled the entire Gruden show. I also watched the replay of the BCS game after the show. Got the same warm- ah nice feeling. He is committed and he is gifted. He seems to have the right attitude. He will succeed. I'm glad he was able to make it back after making some stupid mistakes.
I'm sure he could give a crap about what some idiot in Houston wrote on some blog or what some rival fanatic has to say. I feel the same way.

The poster to which I responded seemed to think that Cam didn't know any plays if you didn't notice.
All I am saying is to believe that after an entire season in an offense, one of the most prolific offenses in SEC history, to believe that the starting QB did NOT know the plays is a bit... stupid.
Do you disagree with that?

If he sucks as a pro do we have to give back our championship?

I watched Tebow's, Mallett's and Newton's interviews.
Mallett did very well. Cam
Mallett did very well. Cam

Whats not funny is those passes he was throwing for Gruden ZING!

What is really funny is that half of these predictions will be wrong no matter how Cam does in the NFL. Why can't everyone just be happy for all of these guys on where they land in the draft, and critique them on their play once they get there? I am excited for all of the guys from the SEC headed into the draft and I see no reason to bash any of them. They are all more talented than 99.9% of all of us and their paychecks will prove it.

Cam's a great athlete - he's a little full of himself, shows no humility. But, if I had his abilities and accomplishments, I may ten times worse than he is right now.

Exactly the point was making on an earlier thread I started about how Petrino mentally prepares QBs for the NFL while Gus and his system doesn't. This was why Pike's decision to sign with Auburn was very puzzling because of he previously stated that he wanted to be developed in a “pro style” offense.
Yes, yes I know, Cam will be a 1st round selection but nobody can argue, at least with a straight face, that his high selection is because of his knowledge of the game, his understanding of what defenses are doing, and his ability to quickly identify the defense and call the proper audibles. No Cam will be a high draft choice because of his tremendous athletic ability and not because of what he has learned under Gus. Zeke Pike should think long and hard about his emotional decision to attend Auburn before it’s too late.
So what does this all mean for Newton's stock? Probably nothing; some team will be dumb enough to fall in love with the rocket arm and the big frame. But the fact of the matter is Ryan Mallett, who has been dogged by allegations of drug use and sounds like he could be the next gator hunter introduced on Swamp People, came across ten times more impressive than Newton in his Gruden session for the simple fact that he didn't seem scripted and he came across as a student of the game while breaking down a play on the chalkboard.
Hell, the fact that he made it to the chalkboard at all puts him ahead of Newton. This flameout is going to be fun to watch.

Last year on College Football Live before the '10 season, Tyler Wilson was asked to name a play Petrino would potentially call if Wilson had to come in the game for an injured Mallett. Wilson responded: "One of my favorite ones is 'flip the wing right T fly three thirty nine naked right wide delay.'"
Contrast that to Cam's, uh, I just look to the sidelines and see 36 on the card. Not a knock on Cam but an indictment on how Gus prepares his QBs.

FIFY.
You do know that BSPN edits their programs, right? And you didn't see everything Cam did or said and you didn't see everything Mallett did or said?

In short, Gus takes most of the decision making out of the hands of his QBs. QBs under Gus do not need to read the defense and check to the correct audible. That is done via flash cards from the sideline. Is that simple enough for you?

My god in heaven, Petrino is the biggest control freak in the country NOT named Saban.
Do you really think Petrino hands his QB's a playbook and says "hey buddy, have a great game on Saturday... knock yourself out!"

Obviously his system will not prepare a QB for the NFL as well as a QB in a good pro style offense. I wasn't arguing that point.
FTR-Cam was required to make quick decisions and read the defense on almost every play in Gus' system. It is just a different kind of read than most QB's make in the NFL. Cam is not smart, but plenty smart enough to learn pro-style offenses and defense reading with enough hard work.
