”This is way more than just what happens inside the stadium.” Last fall, community leaders traveled to Fayetteville, Tuscaloosa and Lexington to compare infrastructure, amenities and game-day experiences as Norman and the #Sooners gears up for the SEC:

It seems they enjoy their trips to Fayetteville.

Kind of a weird article. Makes it seem like they are moving to a different country.
I've always perceived OU fans (at least E. Oklahoman trashy people) as arrogant. It's kinda funny to read their people talk about how much better things are in SEC towns.

Those schools and municipalities were selected given their similarities to OU and Norman

Their first priority should be finding a new football coach.

What do you base that on? Last year (lol). Lets circle back after this season.

Hard to believe how complimentary they are towards Fayetteville and the University. I’ve had the same experience as you. Growing up in Fort Smith, we’d have Okies pull out in front of us on a daily basis and they invariably had an OU sticker and/or license plate attached. I’ve been shot at in McAlister and whipped like a dog in Vian (deserved that:) and Eastern OK really is the Wild West. On the other hand, you could buy 3.2 beer over there at 18, which meant they’d sell it to you at 16 if you could make it to Moffet without getting in a wreck.
All in all, I’m not a fan of the state but maybe, just maybe becoming more “Southern” will rub off on them and they’ll be more neighborly ?? in the years to come!

OU thinks they will be competitive in football in sec
Similar to Aggies it will be at least 10 years to even sniff a sec title

From what I've heard on some of the local sports talk stations they have more trips planned to other SEC towns.
God forbid the people in Norman want to invest to elevate the amenities for SEC fans giving everyone a accommodating memorable experience when they come visit for games.

My sister and BIL went to OU and had a birthday party last week. All their OU friends were there
They are very confident coming into the SEC and think it will be the big 3 of them, UGA and Bama every year.
BIL also thinks this is the year they get a playoff win

In some ways they are. The SEC is totally different then other conferences. Our game experiences are second to none.

I’ve been to a few Big 12 venues for football games: Texas, Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma, and Nebraska.
With the exception of Nebraska and Texas, although the university and Austin has changed drastically in the past 25 years or so, they were all extremely boring venues and atmospheres. They all paled in comparison to SEC venues and events.
Oklahoma representatives can visit all the SEC sites they want and can design and build whatever entertainment districts and amenities they feel necessary, but it won’t change. Why? It’s a cultural matter. People in that Big 12/Great Plain region largely are a boring, stale, homely bunch. They aren’t impolite, but they also aren’t overly welcoming and can be perceived as standoffish (I found Nebraska was the exception).
They just don’t click with the Deep South. Sure, the SEC and the southeast (excluding Missouri and A&M) are a lively, backslapping, “good ole boys club”, in which, our new Big 12 additions (probably sans UT) will likely never get a seat at the table, but at the end of the day, they can design whatever and build whatever, it’ll still be a stale and dormant environment. Nothing like Oxford, Baton Rouge, Athens, Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, Auburn, etc on a game day…

A recurring observation on the site visits was that the proverbial party on an SEC game weekend starts on Thursday or Friday and carries through Sunday.
