Florida had one very elite aspect of their team, and it was as good as anybody in football - passing attack. They were weak on defense and weak in the running game.
Their roster makeup had to remain intact for them to be able to compete at a Top 5/10 level. Even missing Pitts against LSU showed that when they piled up yards but had issues in the red zone. All their pieces at WR/TE complemented eachother in a way that made defending them so incredibly stressful. They had one of the best tight ends of the decade, a great shifty slot receiver who was physical and then 2 big receivers who could go up and get the ball in single coverage. It was a nightmare, and it worked because all of them played off eachother and the QB knew exactly how to use them.
When you remove the pieces that made their elite unit elite they turned into a pretty average to bad team, to be honest. Their passing attack with those guys was so good that they could play catch up/score for score with most anybody. Without it, they couldn't, and they just got steamrolled as the difference was exponential. Their defense actually held up ok for a half, as did their running game, but eventually they needed to do what they did all year - score and score and score - and the guys they had weren't capable of that.

Honestly, I'm 50/50 on whether or not they beat the LSU that was playing at the end of the season.

Sorry man, I am just not that impressed with Oklahoma. I watched a lot of their games this year. They played way above their heads in this bowl game against Florida. Just my opinion.

Sorry. I was at the Rose Bowl when UGA played OU. All of them are exactly like that. At least the ones I came in contact with that week

Oh make no mistake. OU fans are way worse than any SEC fan base. They legit think that that win over Alabama in 2014 in the sugar bowl still matters. Them winning this game is the worst thing that could happen. Can’t express how glad I was to see Georgia come back and shut them up. Don’t get me started on the other CFP games they appeared in.

I say OU should make MORE fun of Florida! The Gators are an embarrassment to the SEC and, along with Vandy, ought to be booted in the seat of the booty OUTTA HERE!
