Did they try a variety of odd or trick plays?

That's the only one I remember from this game, and it really wasn't much of a trick play. They lined up in the wildcat, pitched it to Stidham who tried to hit a wide open Slayton down the field. May have been a double reverse, can't remember. It's a play I've seen several teams run over the years. MSU got some penetration that threw Stidham's timing off a little and caused the overthrow.

Fair argument. If the refs had ruled that he didn't get in, that would've been upheld on review also. It was that close and that inconclusive.

Can the replay officials use deductive reasoning on these multiple camera shots? The first few years they couldn't. The evidence had to be in one frame of the camera and not deduced from multiple angles

They do have cameras down the goal lines, but they aren’t ESPN’s cameras so they didn’t show it on TV I guess. They put it up on the Jumbotron and it showed him starting to lose possession about the 2 yard line.

That would make more sense - wonder why ESPN didn't get access to those? Probably because ESPN sucks.

They definitely showed a very conclusive angle on the jumbotron during the game. I just assumed they were looking at the same angle on ESPN.

Now this is important information that in all honesty the fans should know about. It makes sense that the SEC would have it's own set of camera/angles in addition to the TV cameras in determining replays.

I would be surprised if they didn't or couldn't use deductive reasoning. You'd pretty much have to do that to make some of the calls they have to make.

It was close, but you are showing a photo well beyond the goal line. The TD before halftime was clearer and should have been overturn. That being said, it didn't determine the game to me, but it does send a message to the rest of the SEC. You can not blame the Officials on the field, but it does show the issues with the replay Officials in Birmingham. If you watched games on Saturday and most of the year, you have seen the level of incompetency only seen in the NFL. It will cost someone dearly before the year is out.
