They are better on defense than last year and you can count on the offense showing up and playing at an elite level like they have in past Natty’s.

Going to be a classic.

The whole reason Clemson won the game last night was because their defense made play after play in the redzone.

Wasn’t Oklahoma giving up 24 points a game?

Defense ultimately wins championships, true... Clemson's defense is good but if Olave runs his normal route at the end we would be playing an even better defense.

That’s what happens when you play Indiana and purdue and a jim Harbaugh led michigan team. Georgia had a better defense than Clemson and STILL got blown out by LSU.

21 points lost on an overturned called and 2 dropped endzone passes.

Clemson's defense was tough and gritty but they didn't stop tosu. tosu stopped themselves.

and Clemson's defense isn't near as good as last year's. tosu padded their stats against all the inferior teams on their schedule, like most teams do.

tosu had a more dominant defense. their coach was playing not to lose - he was scared. we know what that's like.

Clemson got off to an awful start. OSU’s defense is the best in the country. And they were without their best WR for most of the game.

No they are not. Last year they had 3 upperclassmen on the dline that were 1st round draft picks. They brought a ton of pressure without having to blitz. Not the case this year. They made some adjustments and settled down last night after the first quarter and played well but they aren't as dominant as they were last year.

Burrow is a great QB with dynamic wide receivers but the real MVP of that team is his offensive line. Burrow has all day to throw on just about every down and as a result him and his receivers are good enough to destroy every defense they have faced. Last years Clemson d-line would cause them some problems but not this years.

Clemson's best shot is to win a shootout while getting some turnovers along the way.

LSU is going to get theirs, the question is going to be is Clemsons offense good enough to keep pace with LSU? Georgia and Oklahoma got the ball first and couldn’t do anything, they punted it away and LSU scored on the next drive and it was pretty much over after that. Clemson can’t be playing catch-up vs this LSU offense. I would say LSU could lose in a shootout but by the time the other team gets their offense going, they are already down by 21 points and LSUs offense doesn’t let up.

Also OSU fans are salty AF they had to play Clemson instead of OU after beating 3 top 15 ranked teams in a row before the playoff

That is how Venables seems to have adjusted to a lot of uptempo teams and/or those with talent and skill position parity. They have a very solid defense that gets even stronger when the field shortens. They play a bend but don't break style of defense against top teams. Through 14 games this year they have allowed just 10 red zone TDs (tied 1st nationally)

In last year's CG, Clemson had only 40 more total yds than Bama, fewer rushing yds, less time of possession, and fewer first downs. Bama moved the ball but turnovers or turnovers on downs after longer drives kept the game well out of reach as Bama couldn't keep pace.

That said, if the Clemson offense plays as it did last night, LSU will have a big game.

It’s time to accept that Clemson has a great program and football team regardless of playing in the ACC. Hate to admit it it, but it is what it is.

This should be a good game but Burrow plays at a level that I haven’t seen. The kid looks like a fricking machine. I don’t see them losing this game, but Venables is damn good at what he does.

Condolences to the Ensminger’s for their loss yesterday.

Clemson strengths plays right into LSU hands. They use a ton of blitz packages to get pressure and that plays into JB strength. That’s why I felt OSU would have have been a more difficult game because they can actually get a pass rush without blitzing
