NFL.com Mock Draft

quote:

The last time the Giants went all in on a QB from Ole Miss, it worked out pretty well. I know people have not been projecting Dart to go this high, but New York has a screaming need at the position. After passing on Michael Penix Jr., J.J. McCarthy and Bo Nix in last year’s draft, the G-Men might not feel like they can sit back and wait this time around

Shout out to Jaxson Dart. Maybe he doesn’t go 3rd overall, but if he sneaks into the first round, he deserves it imo.

He'll make the first round but not the top five. Teams are just too desperate for qb's today.

It’s an interesting QB class to say the least. It seems like Sanders and Ward will go Top 3.

Then the best names out there are Jaxson Dart, Dillon Gabriel, Will Howard, Quinn Ewers, Jalen Milroe, Kyle McCord, Brady Cook.

I’m interested to know how high Riley Leonard goes too. It’s hard to predict QBs after the first 2 come off the board.

I can't imagine Milroe making it to the first round in any other situation, honestly. Being unable to read defenses and adjust protections will get you killed in the NFL.

Read this draft preview:

quote:

He will leave the pocket too early and too often miss open reads to attempt more difficult throws

That's for Anthony Richardson, the number 4 pick in the '23 draft.

But Dual Threat QB’s are in vogue in the NFL.

Gabriel, Ewers, and Sanders probably the only true Pass Pro QB’s.

I love Dart but I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell he goes that high unless these NFL scouts know something we don't

I watched Cam Ward the last year. He wouldn’t have cracked the Top 10 last year had he declared. He probably goes 1 this year. That transfer to Miami helped.

I don’t think Dart is a can’t-miss prospect, but when he has protection, he can do a lot of great things. Turns into a complete pumpkin when he’s pressured. But I’m sure that’s most quarterbacks.

Horrible timing for the Titans. We need a QB, we have the #1 pick and no QB is worth a #1 pick.

In 2022 the first qb off the board was Kenny Pickett (bust) at 20.

quote:

2022 QB Class

• Kenny Pickett (20th overall): Traded.
• Desmond Ridder (74th overall): Traded.
• Malik Willis (86th overall): Titans backup.
• Matt Corral (94th overall): Out of the NFL.
• Bailey Zappe (137th overall): Patriots backup.
• Sam Howell (144th overall): Traded.

Dart had an impressive combine and now teams are considering him possibly first round potential. However, if he would have come out last year this would not be even close to being the case. This QB class is very thin so QB's like him have the ability to start out a second round pick then show off at the combine and their pro days and make huge leaps.

Best player available type draft

Richardson was the opposite, always stayed in the pocket, rarely taking off, and couldn’t make simple throws. He would’ve been insane in Heupel’s offense throwing bombs every play.

Dart has as lot of the intangibles necessary and proved he has a really good arm at the combine. He'll need to go to the right team though and the Giants are simply not it unless they're able to sign Rodgers or another one-two year QB. Dart will not be ready day 1 but if given some time, I would not be surprised to see him having a good career.

Advanced analytics actually tell the opposite story. People tend to think of the Florida game though.

I think of every game we lost this past year. All were close and all were winnable, but you know.

Milroe is not in any of the 1st round projection post Senior Bowl and Combine. He's projected to go in the third round but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go after Kyle Mccord or even Leonard.
