BK, who LSU just flushed, is a Lane Kiffin with a better resume.
This is an incredible take.

So at most 45MM in 5 years
Kiffin is on a 6 year contract currently. The 4 year thing doesn't hurt us at all. Lane's contract just auto-renewed with the win over Oklahoma, so he is on contract until 2031, not that that matters but to your point that we are limitied to 4-5 max, it does.

Not knocking OM specifically, but think what that could do for the scholarship fund, etc. This applies to all schools.
A rising tide raises all ships.
The health and wellness of the football program, and its continued upward trajectory with Kiffin at its helm, will bring in more funds through increased enrollment and revenue-producing activities (merchandise sales, etc.) to allow the university to additionally fund academic programs, including scholarship programs. Alabama is a good example.

I had dinner with Layla last night at McEwen's. I know what you're thinking. But Reggie, McEwen's is closed on Mondays isn't it ?!!? The answer is yes and no. Yes it's closed to the general public but one phone call and two hours later we had a private table in the back sharing our Chilean Seabass and Szechuan Duck. Anyway, Layla tells me that Lane knows that LSU will hire some up and coming coach and can his sorry arse in 3-4 years anyway and this will all start over again. Texas might even be looking for a coach by that point and they prefer Austin to the Murder Capital of Louisiana. Knox is happy at Oxford High School and they want him to have some stability these next few years. By the way, the fried buttermilk oysters with mignonette and plum sauce were excellent and LSU is also gay as hell.

Coaches have egos and want bigger jobs.
Lane had one of the biggest egos of all, that was old Lane though. His ego ruined his career and marriage. What is happening now is the Lane Kiffin redemption arc, where Oxford was the center piece of the Kiffin re-birth. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds
-If he stays - The new Lane wins and he has chosen a better path for him and his family.
-If he goes - The old Lane wins, and he is now, what he was before.
Everyone wanting to see Kiffin leave are rooting for his demise, his return to his dark days. It is a sad view of the SEC fanbase to see a man not make his life and family better, and wish for a crash and burn.

I'm not sure that Florida or LSU can wait around for them to get eliminated in order to hire him
Timing of openings and coaching situations are often overlooked.
I believe you are correct for UF at least. I keep seeing references to something similar about not waiting.
Lane gets a raise no matter what. Good for him.

Let's have some names, then. I'd love to hear who throws money away like this. Other than LSU.
