Huge game but the 2003 LSU game was understood if we win then we win the west, beating Alabama wouldn't guarantee that.

his will be two Top 10 teams. Hasn't happened in Oxford in a while. Should be fun.

A top 10 matchup probably hasn't happened in Oxford since Vaught was the head coach here. No bullshite.

The attendance for this game will be bigger, but it will not come close to the emotion or importance of that LSU game

How is it gonna be bigger? Has seating been expanded somehow?

Back then, OM played only a 2 or 3 games in Oxford. Most of their bigger games were played elsewhere; many in Jackson. I already mentioned that most of the LSU games were played in Baton Rouge. Don't remember why but I suspect in was money/stadium size

Ole Miss played many of its games in Jackson and Memphis before Vaught-Hemingway was expanded. In retrospect it was probably a mistake not to expand VHS sooner. BTW, one of the most significant Top Ten matchups during the Vaught Era occurred in 1952 when Ole Miss beat #1-ranked Maryland, 21-14 in Oxford. In fact, that victory began the most successful period of Vaught's coaching--one with many Sugar and Cotton Bowl appearances, as well as SEC and National Titles.

An Ole Miss friend of mine lives in Houston and he is involved in all of the alumni stuff down there and one of folks in his group was a Rebelette during those late 50s/early 60s years and apparently has done very well down there. Throws a lot of money at the program. She complains about how all of this stuff should have started back then rather in recent years.

Yea - same with Alabama and Legion Field until the late 90's.
