Ah so you're still in the grind work. Upper level courses are more fun.
I've always wanted a law degree. I have no idea why I didn't just go for it when I finished grad school. It opens up a lot of options.
Whole lotta grind work
I want to prosecute civilly for the City straight out of school and then eventually find my way as a federal prosecutor specializing in financial crimes so I'm considering an LLM in taxation. What's your grad degree in?

My friend just made a point on FB chat: "...why the hell did they just not have maintenance remove it there on the spot at 7 AM. Nobody saw it and the investigation could have been handled quietly."

I honestly wondered that as well. Guess they just wanted a reason for a $25,000 giveaway.

Completely agree, but I'd imagine it would reduce the odds of catching them if this was kept quiet

My grad degree puts the P in PhD. Tis the mother subject upon which all higher education and even the law is founded.

What if they did that and word got out that it happened. Then people would cry "coverup." It would be MUCH worse than just being open and transparent with it.

Actually, in my class, everyone but me did that as I thought I'd end up staying in academia - loved teaching college but then I realized that in order to keep doing it and move up the ladder I'd have to become rootless and move around the country all the time just trying to find a tenure track job. So I ended up trying a few things and realized I'm not happy with any of them because I don't find them challenging or interesting.
I have two friends who were awarded philosophy degrees.
One received a bachelors and is in law school, the other received a masters and works at a casino because he decided not to get a PhD and seek a tenure track position. Also, they are the only two conservatives I've ever met with philosophy degrees.

Conservatives with philosophy degrees?! How'd we let that happen? Dammit the liberal cabal has failed!
Seriously the only conservative leaners I've known in philosophy were more libertarian than conservative. Well.. I did know a few who were conservative in the sense that around here you say you're conservative because it's popular (even if you say nothing people will just assume you're republican by default) but they didn't have very conservative views socially speaking.
You know instapundit/Glenn Reynolds? I know his dad - big liberal teaches at UT as well (or did until he retired). He taught ethics, bioethics and various subjects in philosophy and religious studies and he is/was brilliant. Glenn teaches at UT law school as well as does his blog/media thing. I have no idea how him and his dad turned out to be such opposites - knowing his dad it might've be then only way possible to rebel.
