Dude, I'm just playing with all this, in case you didn't know.

It looked like you were being super cereal about tailgaiting at 3:30 am...

Trust me, there's only one thing I'm "super cereal" about at that time...and it ain't this.

quote:That's all you got? That makes him a bad Chancellor? Wow! I said before, he did not always pick his battles wisely and this might be an example of that. I suspect though, there is some branding and marketing of the University that you might never understand that went into this campaign. It wasn't handled well and they could have done a better job of articulating the reason. You do realize that The University of Mississippi is about academics first, right?
He got rid of the name "Ole Miss" last year.
Except for sports

quote:Yeah - you would probably have to go back to Gerald Turner to find a better one. Khayat could work a room pretty well but he was in that good ole boy circle that had their hearts in it to make Ole Miss the best it could be but not the brains. Pete Boone loved OM and was a good banker. He had no more business being an AD as I would.
He was one of the best chancellors we've had in a long time

No, he tested the waters for moving away from the name Ole Miss, and got his hands, face, and butt slapped.
Seems he did a survey that showed no problem and decided HE thought best to remove the name. Didn't fly. Didn't happen.
WE ARE OLE MISS!

You seem confused but I will let your U of M brothers straighten you out on that. I am just glad we are not still the Mississippi A&M Maroons. Sometimes changes are needed. Pushing the use of U of M on the academic side and official publications make perfect sense to me. Using Ole Miss and Rebels on the athletics' side makes perfect sense as well. I will say it again. They did not handle it well.

The good news is.....the inbreds that have been spewing bullshite for the past 6-7 years about how so much money hasn't been donated to Ole Miss because of Dan Jones....will be soon donating it.
Some faculty and alumni, including Jim Barksdale, Ole Miss' biggest donor, expressed anger.
"In my opinion, they've made an unforgivable decision," said Barksdale, who has contributed $30 million to Ole Miss over the past 15 years.
Barksdale said UMMC is "in the best financial situation in years. They just signed a huge deal with the Mayo Clinic. The IHL has made a decision they will come to regret. … They got mad at Dan and came up with reasons to get rid of him."
The board's decision has influenced his thinking about giving to Ole Miss, he said.

I am so glad I don't have to deal with people like you on a daily basis anymore.

Gerald Turner
He did some good things....but he was still deeply entrenched into the GOB network...
He also put up no fight with the NCAA and allowed them to give us 2nd only to SMU in the worst sanctions they've ever given out....

Very correct on all of this.

Did you punch him in the dick for me?

No. It was a funeral. He did ask me if that pankReb character still posts on tigerdroppings.

I am NOT confused! The negative outcry was brutal and swift. He backed off pronto!
The plans, no matter whether you get your head out of the sand or not,is to completely recreate Ole Miss and take everything away.
He's gone and I hope he takes his plan with him. Go fix some other school that NEEDS fixing.
There are none so blind as those who will not see! Put a frog i9n boiling water and he will jump out. Put him in cold water and heat it to a boil, and he will boil to death!
What's funny is that the plan is so transparent. I guess subtlety is not a strong suit for rewriters and reform of history.

I'll say one thing about Turner... the man can raise money. With the addition of a $45 million gift a couple weeks ago, SMU's current capital campaign is sitting at around $990 million raised with $10 million to go by December to reach the goal of $1 billion.

quote:I heard in one of Dan's exit interviews that he kind of smiled and said, "well, at least I hired Bjork and Hugh Freeze". The Vaught bunch had an appointment with him and said it's you or Nutt and Boone and you have 20 minutes. He said OK. Vaught group appointed the search committee. Technically, yeah, he was the Chancellor and he "hired" them but does anyone think he could vet Hugh or Bjork? Reckon he had heard of either?
