There were people mad at the cameraman.
The production truck decides what is shown on the screen at home. They have 45 different cameras and a producer is calling the shots on what is being seen

This has been a weird sports media trend online. These low level sports bloggers feel this desperate need to greatly over exaggerate every emotion because they live their lives online and don’t actually know how to communicate like a normal human being.

Yup.
A good number are just crowd shots. The cameraman can end up focusing on a person, but unless the person is of significance (like when Katherine Webb was in attendance at the 2012 National Title Game).
Otherwise it's just luck when they catch an iconic moment.
