Thats an old Arky BBall player I think....used to hang with Nutt on the sidelines at ARky now is at Ole Miss.

Memphis if you had any type of coaching....You gave it a great shot but just came up a little short due to stupidity.

Was that Gary Coleman walking around on Ole Miss sideline?

Memphis has had receivers running WIDE OPEN all day.
Their QB is one of the worst I've seen in a long time, though, so it didn't matter.

Score aside, I think we've all seen what we needed to see today.

It was a good game until the 3rd quarter, and OM just beat the shite out of them.
Like I predicted would happen in my previous threads related to this game.
Tommy West and his QB frickin suck.
ETA: Congrats Rebels!

was happy to see Ole Miss defense take the field first. I thought those guys set the tone for the day when they caused a 13 yard loss in 2 plays. Almost anytime they really wanted to, they were in the backfield. I think this is a real good example of playing to the level of your competition. The tackling was not real crisp but I attribute that to playing down to the level of competition as well as the summer practice methods Nutt adopted this year.
I don't think Nutt worked this first team defense real hard this summer as I know at least one saturday scrimmage they didn't even play along with a couple 2nd team defenders. YOu know in football there is that age old question about, in preseason do you establish physicality with a tough fall camp and take a chance on getting people hurt, or do you do what you have to do to get to the season as healthy as possible and take your rust lumps in games 1 and 2. In OM case for this year by the fact they didn't lose the opener and came in with no season ending injuries tells me Nutt knew what he was doing. That get's us to our second point about offense.
Obviously, it was a lackluster day early on for Snead but I thought he got better later. They always say a championship team has a defense that can stop it's own offense and Snead didn't get a chance to complete alot of passes during this summer b/c their defense is that good which I think lead to some rust. I was very very happy to see good ole Nutt-ball which is establishing some power 10 to 15 yard runs early with hardcore runblocking. I miss that at Arkansas nowadays. I was not very happy with the turn overs but again I think that can be attributed to first game rust and a mediocre amount of summer workload. This offense did alot of things last year we didn't see this game which leads me to believe more stuff is going to be incorporated later, like around the SC or Bama game. It makes me think they didn't want to show alot of their offense in the opener. It looks like we've found our replacement for Wallace.
Also remember the graphic espn showed early about how Memphis is taking alot of thugs and other tranfers from major programs. Memphis is not a bad team at all and I believe they could beat 3 or 4 of our current SEC teams right now based on what I watched yesterday.
I don't recall any miss ques on special teams which is great for a first game. That Ritter kid has one hell of a leg don't he?

This is dumb. You'd know Snead had a great spring if you paid any attention. The first half looked like first game jitters.
