Mercer Uni in Macon is pretty old and I believe the oldest private in GA. It was established in 1833.
The old part of the campus has some cool buildings.
I always thought Mercer should go public given it is more similar to a large public university with engineering and professional programs than to other private colleges.

The updated Cock clothing. I'm kinda fond of the "You Can't Block Our Cocks" tees.

Athens State is the oldest in Alabama, actually. 1822

Yeah, well, Bama is full of shite on this one. Athens State opened as a women's college in 1822.
I grew up about two blocks away and that's where my folks got married.
Fun fact: A Union occupying force was in Athens (actually known as the Rape of Athens), led by a Russian national named Ivan Turchaninov. The force fricked up a good bit of town, and were about to burn down the building you see up here, but the college's president had forged a letter from Abraham Lincoln ordering the preservation of Founder's Hall.
Athens State has a really nice little campus. I am a photographer on the side and shoot there a lot on campus and in downtown Athens.
Went back and got a second degree from Athens State... BS Science and Technology Management. They are unusual in that they are one in the handful of schools that are a two year upper division university - that is, they teach only junior and senior level classes. They really work well to accommodate students.
Founders Hall is great but the new gem on campus is McCandless IMHO. The old pipe organ and theater style seating is stunning.
Finally, I have also shot a lot at UNA in Florence. Also a well kept campus although it is a lot better than it used to be. The lions are really cool.

What type of photography do you do?

But it was not publicly funded until 1974. Alabama has been a publicly funded institution since it first opened its doors in 1831.

Used to shoot a truckload of sports (including Bama sideline) for AHSAA and several high schools. But tapering off some, had major heart surgery late last year that knocked me back a peg or two.
Still shoot probably more than I need to, though. Recently shot a senior set at Athens St and an engagement set at UNA. Shooting a high school graduation later this month, a Miss Alabama preliminary pageant in June, and a wedding in July. Since it is not my primary job, I can be selective and shoot what I want. My shooting schedule even just five years ago was INSANE but I have scaled back a lot. It's not a path to wealth.

Wife has taken and she is swamped all the time now but it pays decent.
Her going rate though is pretty steep though. I couldn't believe the prices people pay for a 30min session let alone a wedding

Fun fact - college level classes have never been held at UGa.

meanwhile there is a shy girl who made straight A's and comes from a poor family and she has to work 2 jobs while in college because she didn't get scholarships.
Maybe I'm wrong...but if a girl or guy in high school has made straight A's, wouldn't they get some sort of scholarships? Also, wouldn't it depend on what college you decide to attend? For example, my wife had a full ride to go to Winthrop but didn't have a full ride to go to Clemson. Like a dumbass, she decided to go to Clemson.
