This is one of the worst I 've ever heard. No way he is that smart. Look what he did at Missouri! No one wanted to hired him! Also the AD didn't hired him right off the bat. It was after getting shot down from other coaches and ended up with Heupel.

He was smart enough to get the Tennessee job. No one has been smart enough to keep it in the last 2 decades.

Well, in fairness, that's pretty much every SEC school outside of Bama.

This will be the 6th head coach Tennessee has had in the Nick Saban era at ALABAMA. Some have been smarter than others.

This just means everyone had regrets...as in past tense ahead of time.

Not sure if mentally challenged or just writes like a foreigner with a bad grasp of the English language.

To Elarbee's point, Heupel had the #2 Total offense in the country last year. He obviously gets offense and quarterback development. He needs to learn to marry it with a competent defense.

It's interesting watching Missouri fans try and take a dump on the hire after you hired Harry Potter after 1 season at App St and got humiliated by Jeremy Pruitt at home last season.

How do you do that? Lincoln Riley gets a lot better recruits than Tennessee and his defense goes belly up in the playoff every time. Lane Kiffin comes out balls-a-blazin' and proceeds to get bludgeoned to death with the worst defense in the nation.

I think most of the country is trying to figure that out as the game continues to trend the way of wild west shootouts.

So far, if you can't play some defense it's still not happening.

Meaning, the offense has to play to the defense with some sense of purpose. With these hyper spread teams, TOP out the window, they might as well be two separate teams who eat pregame meals in the same lunchroom. ALABAMA has been trying to find that balance again since Mike Locksley took the reins. This season we hit paydirt.

He bailed on mizzou. That alone proves he was the smartest person in the program. Infact, is he the only member of that staff to advance his career?

So this is one of the few hires I've heard great things about so I looked up what I could find on him. Now its possible that the below excerpt is incredibly homer'ish post hire, but they drop some stats in that piece that are either A. blatant lies or B. Hes atleast decent and in fact appears to be a pretty damn good Oline coach. I honestly dont know anything about him besides what i have read on here and online recently. Take from it what you will.

Heupel and Elarbee first worked together when Heupel was the offensive coordinator at Missouri. Elarbee served as the offensive line coach under Heupel for the Tigers from 2016-2017. When Elarbee arrived in Columbia in 2016, he inherited a line with no returning starters. In 2015, the Tigers had rated not better than 113th in the nation in any major offensive category. In 2016, Elarbee’s unit led the nation in fewest tackles for loss allowed, were 16th in the nation in sacks allowed, and the Tigers had the 13th ranked total offense in the country. In recognition of his part in the turnaround, Elarbee was first nominated for the Broyles Award in 2016 (and then again in his first season at UCF in 2018). During his two years with the Tigers, Elarbee built and developed one of the best offensive line groups in the SEC and indeed, in the nation. They were effective run blockers, excellent pass protectors, but above everything else, they minimized negative plays. That hallmark of Elarbee’s units, especially when working with Heupel, kept their offense on schedule and out of bad situations.

Elarbee is the best offensive line coach in the country. That being said, I thought it was a dumb career move to follow Huepel from Missouri to UCF, but it looks like it’s worked out for him. He’s truly outstanding.
