Depth is always an issue in this conference. Lack of quality depth will be exposed quickly.

Developing good depth was a big issue for Kirby when he took the Georgia job. He plays a lot of people in the course of a game.

It's a process, and I hope OU is on the right path. I think so, but still a long ways to go. Joining the SEC plus OU's blue blood status should hopefully help bolster the roster, especially on the D-line. I'd put OU up against anyone everywhere else, but we haven't had legit dlines since the time of Gerald McCoy....

OU fans have zero idea what they’re in for coming to Baton Rouge year 1.

Thing is, its not just 1 game in 1 year its forever. Long game means teams have to face us constantly too. Works both ways.

Another point, OU had some of the best offensive teams year after year. But struggled in the title games. I think its fair to say fans know its easier for a team to slow down offense when given 4-5 weeks to prepare. Once in routine conf play year after year that extra prep time goes away as week to week games require focus on that weeks game.

I do like we are rebuilding defense. Its a complete D rebuild and I think folks will start to see some signs of life this year on that side of ball. In 24 we’ll be a much better balanced team than what Riley had.

My main point is it works 2 ways. LSU will have to come to Norman. Adding OU/TX is not like adding Vandy type teams. There are 2 more seats at the table and that makes things harder for every team not just OU/TX.

I love these responses though because thats what will make this so fun - the fans in SEC are so much more engaged and the experiences will be so awesome all around. TV has to be frothing at the mouth knowing how these first few years with new matchups will be off the charts with anticipation.

As a fan I am excited about the move and the storylines to come.

What you gain on the defensive side with brent, wouldn't you also expect a drop-off on the offensive side of the ball with the departure of riley ?

Your point is taken and has some merit. But the D gain is far more than the O drop. It might help the O get more possessions too.

On a 1 to 10 scale with 1 the least

D gains = 10
O loss = 3

Odds are pretty good that OU has a far better record over the next 50 years than Texas in the 2024 SEC model. OU has been more consistently good than Texas over the last 70 years or so....

Welp, it's a new day. This conference has a way of humbling you. You can lose to anyone on any given day. Enjoy !

As soon as the LIncoln Riley fricked yo roster gets out of the way in 2 years OU will be competing for the sec title mark it down… we don’t have depth right now on the dline and barely have any youth . 1-2 recruiting classes and we will be back. We should be a lot better than last year . I tell you what the first LSU fan that throws something on me or gets in my face is getting round housed.

You do know the other teams recruit every year, too. It's not like they are going to stop so you can catch back up.

They just don't like having to say it's to protect their win/loss record to pump up the mediocrity in the league and beat their chests about how good UGA and Bama are.

- while that might be true this year, most years I highly doubt it is. But let us say it is true, the SEC is by far the toughest conference in the land. SEC teams play other SEC teams, which makes their schedule very hard.

Want proof?

What is the bowl records of the SEC teams vs the other conferences?

How many SEC teams have won the NC in the last 25 years?

It is easy to say your numbers, but the truth behind them is that most teams in other conferences are not very good.

The SEC stomps the pancreas out of teams in the post season.

(This data below is missing last year.)

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS SINCE 1992
Since the first SEC expansion in 1992, the SEC has the most national championships
(AP, USA Today) with 16. During that time, the SEC has had more teams with national
titles than any other conference (6). Here is a breakdown:
SEC (16) Florida (2008, 2006, 1996), LSU (2003, 2007, 2019), Tennessee (1998),
Alabama (1992, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2020), Auburn (2010),
Georgia (2021)
Big 12 (5) Texas (2005), Oklahoma (2000), Nebraska (1994, 1995, 1997)
ACC (5) Florida State (1993, 1999, 2013), Clemson (2016,18)
Big Ten (3) Ohio State (2002, 2014), Michigan (1997)
Pac-10 (2) Southern California (2003, 2004)
Big East (1) Miami, Fla. (2001)

• Since 2006, the SEC has accrued more bowl wins (102) and appearances (164)
than any other conference. The conference’s .622 bowl winning percentage is first
among A5 leagues during that time.
SEC 102-62 .622
ACC 65-80 .448
Big 12 61-54 .530
Big Ten 60-73 .451
Mountain West 52-37 .584
Pac-12 49-51 .490
American 47-49 .490
Conference USA 47-52 .475
Sun Belt 35-21 .625
MAC 25-59 .298
Independents 20-17 .541

The SEC does not need to "protect" its won/loss record, no other conference can beat the SEC consistently.

While that can be true, the SEC is far more of a grind than the Big 12. I can promise you the OU players will feel the difference after playing Ole Miss and Auburn.

It is the week to week that OU needs to worry about and toughen up for
