Well they very well be #2. The Big 12 is pretty damn shitty. I know BU & TCU are private, but they're not in the same league as Rice or SMU.

Flip Missouri to Tier 2 below Florida. Arkansas up to Tier 3, while flipping Auburn Tennessee and South Carolina down to Tier 4.
But I have no problem with what Tramel said..which is probably correct. Academically, why not elevate yourself by placing yourself within a group of Stanford, Cal, USC, and UCLA?
Same idea, if Mizzou were to join the B1G would raise our profile academically. Would be dumb not to want to raise standards and prestige.

Academics wise they fall somewhere around the middle, perhaps a bit back, in the conference. We would not take Oklahoma because they were putting Harvard and Stanford to shame when it came to academics.
4th in Power 5, formerly 5th when Missouri, A&M, Colorado and Nebraska were still in Big 12

The SEC has 4 AAU schools: Vandy, Mizzou, Florida, & A&M. So suck it.
Kentucky pays a lot of money to AAU.

You think MU is ahead of UGA & A&M.

National perception is definitely a thing. Outside of Vandy, so many people see every SEC school as some backwoods idiot school. Let them hate

LSUs research alone bumps us up past most of your other tier 3 schools you wrote. Alabama isn't even an R1 institution.

Wasn't ranking them, but was just noting that Florida is better than the other Tier 2 schools (including Missouri). You can split hairs within tiers, but Florida is indisputably above the others within the tier.

Sadly, other than the beloved UT, the Big 12 is a joke of an academic conference. With the departure of Colorado, Texas A&M, and Missouri, the conference is a joke.
Spare me from the Baylor and TCU shite. Those are shite, pissant, overpriced 3rd tier Texas schools. Graduates from TCU and Baylor without connections are stunned that they have to slug it out with the rest of the satellite and other Texas colleges (not named UT, Rice, and A&M). I'd look to hire a kid from UTEP, UTSA, UTA, etc. before those dipshits.
SMU...well...SMU is more of a country club than a school. Is it more academically rigorous? Sure. But, students go there to network and make connections. 80% it proves to be beneficial.

No.
I think most if not all SEC schools are Tier I in USN&WR rankings.
Niche.com ranks all U.S. public schools and has 3 SEC in the top 11 nationally:
UF, A&M and UGA; 3 more in top 38: Alabama, LSU and Auburn, Mizzou and Ark in top 43, OM and UT in top 55, MSU, UK and USCe in 78.
Okie State is 35th, Oklahoma is 45th......

My Tiers are solely in terms of the SEC schools as compared to each other.

On this we can all agree.

Someone explain to me why this matters in an athletic association. Why do the schools around you have to be good?
