Wasn't trying to call you out Dawg fan, but he also had one of the best QBs right in front of him the whole year too. Right? Imagine if he had a RSFR at QB like Scott did for LSU. Scott got over a 1,000 yards too. And Moreno only rushed for 2 or 300 more yards than him. I didn't say he did bad, but i remember hearing UGA fans saying he may go 2,000 yards and Herschel Walker yadda, yadda, yadda. I thought he had a good year by SEC standards.

Also, I think some defensive players from LSU, Ole Miss, and Tennessee may have McElroy wishing he had gone to UNLV.
For sure. I bet the mighty mountain west is pretty glad, that UNLV didn't get such a blue chipper. I bet he could have won the heisman this year, If saban wasn't playing favorites and letting that awful QB, John Parker Wilson play QB.

I see Bama, LSU, and Ole Miss all with 2 SEC losses next season. It will be a matter of who beats who for the tiebreaker.
Bama and Ole Miss. I think we should get used to the Chicken Little bowl because that's were we'll be next year. After that, back to Atlanta for the SECCG in '10.

I was under the impression that if we played JJ all season, we would have been 10-2 this year. It follows that we should win the National Title for the next three years straight (so I thought).
Silly me!

Agreed, and Lsu is no Alabama. To keep making comparisons of Saban when he was there vs here doesn't work either. Bama has a favorable schedule next year, that will be the main thing to help out with our W's next year. The down side is losing 3 OL probably. I feel we'll be ok at TE with Smelley coming on and Peek stepping in next year. I think we pull 9 wins next year in the regular season, 10 if the ball bounces right. Our D will be sick. Returning 9 of 11 there.

FWIW, GMac was committed to Texas Tech and then swapped his commitment.

Gmac will really have to try hard if he wants to be worse than Lee.

Don't throw the truth at them, it only incites envy.

The good thing going for Bama right now is they will have a solid D who will keep them in ballgames, and Saban will try to limit the amount of mistakes the new QB has by running the ball most of the time
Isn't this the exact thing that happened at Bama with JPW at QB this season? I don't see how all of you are having that hard of a time grasping that concept.

I just find it amusing Bama has 2, maybe 3 good seasons since 1992 and now they are on pace to win 3 or 4 consecutive SEC Championships.

Not gonna happen gumps. Get over it.

before the SECCG i sarcastically posted that bama wasn't going to a lose a game until 2010 and some of them actually argued with me that it was a legit possibility. that didn't last too long

Lol, we LSU fans have already been doen that road, You don't think we used the Bradford

Yes, it could work for Bama but Bradfords are the exception, not the rule. You'll see. If it makes you feel better, I think McElroy will be better than Lee was and Bama's schedule is of course a joke, again, so Bama will be ok.

I just ask for one piece of evidence that would support the suggestion that MCelroy would have a worse season next year than JPW his first year?
JPW was what a 3 star recruit? (foggy memory)
JPW came into a HORRIBLE O-line (We all remember the 11 sacks on Brodie the year before). He did have 2 talented WRs in Hall and Brown (neither could hold a candle to JJ), and our defense was suspect and it was only his 2nd or maybe 3rd year in Shula's system.
McElroy is in his third year, 2nd under McElwain (more than JPW had). He comes in as a higher rated recruit than JPW did and at the least the O'line won't be any worse than it was for JPW in the first 2 years (honestly we probably had one of the worst Olines in the SEC in 2006 & 2007). He'll have JJ who they'll have to keep a safety over constantly, hopefully B. Scott will blossum into his 5 star pedigree, or at the least another WR will step up while JJ draws double teams.
There are a lot of questions how well we'll run the ball, and what kind of pass protection he'll have, but JPW's success was built around 3 and 5 step drops with 1 READ! literally I don't know if he even dumped a ball off to the back more than 5 times this season. I expect a lot more out of McElroy than I saw out of JPW this year. (Tds and MISTAKES). We won't have the devestating ground game we had this year so we'll be forced to open up the playbook a little, and I feel a lot more comfortable with McElroy for that than I did with JPW.

Alabama had 10 win seasons in 92, 94, 99, 02, 05, and 08. Six good seasons.

We didn't have 5-star O-Lineman waiting in the wings during Shula's tenure like we do now with Tyler Love and DJ Fluker, not to mention we lead for Bobby Massie. Couple that with Boswell, Barrett Jones, David Ross, and Taylor Pharr (all 4-stars) and we should be okay next season.

Ohio State had a TRUE freshman qb starting this year last I looked. They're in a BCS bowl against Texas
