OK, Bama holds and cheats and doesn't get caught but seriously...

Why in the world do they not stop the blatant pulling/grasping of jerseys?
That makes no sense to me to have a rule that says holding is a 10 yard penalty and then the rule is broken on every single play with no flags.
Hell, start calling each lineman holding on the same play and back them up 50 yards. That would cure the problem pretty quick.
Maybe OL would actually have to learn proper technique rather than how to properly break existing rules.

Or just play both teams skins vs skins.

Or, gasp, they're using proper technique hence there are no flags. I can't tell you how many different conferences' refs have officiated Bama games. So the whole "SEC refs don't call holding on Bama" is bs. Maybe you should learn the proper techniques before whining.

Warmack's belly would approve of this.

How would they call titty twisters?

If we hold on every play then why did the Pac-12 officials only call holding twice on Alabama Monday night?

The REC pays cash.

Are we to assume that PAC12 officials don't miss holding penalties?

No...I think we are to assume that, when multiple officiating crews from multiple conferences fail to call too many holding calls on a particular team, it's probably because the blockers use good technique or because they hide their holds pretty well. I'm gonna say it's a combination of both.

Hell, that was two more holding calls than you got all year with SEC refs.

Um, thread title wasn't really a dig at Bama, hence the seriously part.

The thread is about holding in general. IDGAF who is holding. Why don't they just stop OL from holding since it's against the rules?
It makes no sense to me.

There was a time when the offense couldn't use their hands at all. I was taught to keep my hands inside my chest at all times (O-line). Now they'll let an o-lineman put his hands on the defensive man as long as it is inside his silhoutte. The problem with the holding call comes when the defensive man is hand-gripped and pulled away from his natural movement, or he's grabded from outside his silhoutte.
I found interesting a statement made by the big Georgia d-lineman in regard to a blocking technique that Alabama used some that he'd never seen before. It seems that the o-lineman would grab him with both hands, one on each number on his jersev, and instead of pushing, they'd pull him to them, ending up chest-to-chest, then simply shielding him from the running lane and pushing back against his push. Apparently hand grabbing isn't called, but pulling with the hands is.

It's a nationwide trend. People like to bitch about Bama never being called for it but if you watch any given game regardless of conference you'll see offensive linemen getting away with murder at least a few times a game.
