Bama still doesn't belong in NOLA for BCS, they should be in NOLA for Sugar Bowl.

Legitimate question: How do y'all think this LSU team would fair against 1995 Nebraska, 2001 Miami, 2004 USC, and 2005 Texas?

Just curious here, but I keep seeing this posted on this board, but what happens if Bama wins in regulation? I mean according to many on this board there's NO WAY Bama can win in your HOME stadium in NO, so if we're able to do something on your HOME turf that you couldn't do on ours, what then???

This game is for all the marbles. You lose and you're GOAT season is destroyed, as is this board, and Alabama will be the National Champions. Period. This, however, would have been true had you been playing OkSt, Stanford, us, whatever. Me thinks you're just pissed that you're playing a team that actually has a chance to derail the GOAT tag, which is crap by the way. That title belongs to 95 Nebraska and it isn't close. They're average score was 53-15 compared to LSU's 38-10 this year. Not to mention that they won the National Title game against an 11-0 Florida SEC Champ that had been beating everyone by an average of 49-18. That said, if you win in NO you will definitely be LSU's greatest team ever. Props!

You're trying to disprove an opinion with statistics. Think about it.

As stated before, I don't get into the greatest team ever because it is useless and assumptions based off of stats like the ones you provided. Let's look at the hypothetical situation though. Sure Nebraska's team had a bigger margin of victory, but all that really suggests is that they had a high power offense. Their offense averaged 39% more points per game than LSU, but their defense gave up 50% more points.

'95 Cornhuskers also played #2,#7,#8 and #10 teams.
'11 Tigers playes #2 twice(NC), #3 twice, #14, #16, #17, #20 and #25.

The stats used to pick the greatest of all time team(s) are as useless as the arguement. The teams will never play each other to determine the truth.

Fact is that LSU and Bama have great teams this year and no one can take that from either of them.

Bama didnt win a game in OT in 09 nor did they win a game without scoring a T.D.

LSU also didn't struggle against any unranked teams like Bama did in 09.

one of these teams is not like the others

And this LSU defense would absolutely crush 95 Nebraska and 04 USC

2001 canes...love to see that one, but they might put it on LSU. That really is the greatest team ever

LSU didn't need to block a field goal on the last play of the game to beat a dinky Tennessee team, either.

Also while Auburn in '09 was pretty good, again Alabama needed last minute heroics. In LSU's last regular season game vs #3 Arkansas, LSU destroyed them.

If LSU wins on Jan 9, LSU most certainly would be better than 2009 Alabama. Again,no one can prove either way. LSU fans will say LSU,Alabama fans will say Alabama.

As for greatest of all time, any team would have a hard time making that case when you line up every team and what they accomplished relative to what they faced that year.

1995 Nebraska and 2004 Southern Cal would have been epic games. 2005 Texas was pretty overrated and for all of the NFL talent on Miami 2001 since they had to hold on for dear life vs a so-so VPI team, I'd take 2011 LSU over them anyday.

Which was basically my point. I only used 09 Bama to show that every yr, a NC goes through a gauntlet to be the best team that year. That, in itself, should be celebrated and enjoyed for what it is and what they are. The best team that year and NC.

We heard the same thing in late October and the first 4 days of November from people with script red A's next to their names.

This. If LSU wins they're the best of all time, if Bama wins they each have one win and have been impressive all year long. LSU wins the "Best CFB teams of all time" list goes like this :

1) 2011 LSU Tigers
2) 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide
etc
etc

If Bama wins it looks like this :
1) 2011 LSU Tigers/2011 Alabama Crimson Tide
etc
etc
etc

But you didn't have to beat us twice that year and you played us at home. You can still claim your 18 titles of whatever, we will just be remembered as the best individual team ever, particularly because we will beat you in the end, again. See how that works.
