38 million is nothing to Ohio State as long as football is taken care of.

Who cares?
I despise osu, but they won the natty.
It was well worth it.
Also, who cares if several other sports operate at a club level?
Again, they won the natty.

We have one of the largest athletic budgets in the country and our football program is worth nearly $2 billion. This year’s ticket and merchandise sales should easily make up for that deficit.
That'll be the day when you liquidate and convert all that stuff into cash!

Value and liquidity aren't the same. They don't have $2 billion in the bank and if they truly operated at a $38 million dollar loss, they can't do that very long and stay fiscally above water.

I imagine the AD’s are all for dropping the number
of sports so they can concentrate on football and
basketball exclusively.

The demise of NIL will not be about paying players. It will be about the inability of college football to regulate the pure greed of the adults in the room.

This can be said for every university that prides itself on one or two sports and has a large fan base. There will be sports to get cut at OSU and several other high profile schools. It’s only a matter of time. The flip side of that is those sports can be operating as “club” sports with private donations and not under the scrutiny of sanctioned college sports

Football without the financial benefits is not terribly relevant for an academic institution.

My point is there aren't any colleges rich enough or dumb enough to keep dumping money into $38 million losses. Whether it be tOSU, Notre Dame, Texas, etc. I don't care what their "value" is, cash flow is king and I highly doubt any of these colleges have in cash what their "value" is, not even close. "Value" doesn't pay bills.

Two contributing factors. Holtmann's buyout (basketball coach) was $8.6 million and only six homes games.
I wonder what AtM balance sheet looks like with the Jimbo buyout.

The price of hotdogs probably went up at the concession stand, that's for sure.
