That's because it was closer than expected, and bama refs weren't taking any chances. It really is pathetic how blantantly they cheat.

It was a horribly called game that benefitted bama, significantly.

Maybe we aren't talking about the same play. But if you go look at the 9:48 mark of 3rd quarter when Jennings ran the wildcat, you can see 9 holding. He even had the Bama player by the facemask.
The announcers point out during the replay that the officials called the penalty on the wrong player.
