Yeah and in year two he was down 4 of his best 6 players for a large part of the year. He has put together what's going to be three of our best recruiting classes together in a row if 2017 guys stay committed.

numbers don't lie
it's true.
here's what the numbers say:
Pearl - worse record than his predecessor 2 years in.
Johnson - better record than his predecessor in his first year.

We're not talking year one.

Auburn put forth 0 effort tonight. It's clear that they had already quit on the season. Pearl completely lost this team.

If there isn't noticeable improvement next year then I will shed some concern. The records for them may be similar but everything else about Pearl and Barbee are totally different when comparing the state of their programs after 2 years. Barbee generated no excitement and recruited incredibly mediocre. Bruce has people excited despite the fact we aren't very good and is bringing in more talent than Auburn has ever recruited. I get the argument of "Auburn fans saying Bruce has done well so far are wrong" but surely you can see why we are excited about what he's doing.

Canty, by itself, sure. but people constantly blame Barbee for similar program management issues whenever this comparison comes up and then fall over themselves making excuses for Pearl for basically the same thing. sure it might not become an established pattern like it was with Barbee but we just don't know. and 2 years in, there is reason to think it might be. only reason I even brought that angle up.
This is why I say you're clueless. Pearl lost Canty, which was Canty's fault. Barbee lost whole classes of players. It's not even remotely comparable.

I mean, you're a fan, I get it, you think it's going great.
meanwhile, the rest of the world is already concerned, as would be the case for literally any coach at any school who went 11-20 in year 2. surely you can't be so far gone to think that's unreasonable?
gotta be exhausting coming into threads trying to convince the world something that is so obviously not going well is actually great. you will never win that fight. unless you're talking to fellow auburn fans who desperately want to believe obviously.
would be true anywhere. 11-20 is a full on dumpster fire.

Post regular season records and tell me how hard math is again.

Ahh gotcha. I was under the assumption a rare, reasonable discussion was about to take place. I say that the criticism of what Bruce has done on the court right now is fine and you turn it into "you think everything is going great". I will continue to appease you some though. How do you think most coaches would perform with 7-8 scholarship players for the majority of a season?

you're not trying to have a rational debate at all though. you're in here arguing against 11-20 being a reason for concern. which is ridiculous.

Doesn't it seem weird when bama fans smack talk basketball
It's like listening to a woman talk sports. You can't really take it seriously. But they try hard

I'm simply arguing that circumstances have made the outcome of the less significant and the talent outlook makes it even less significant.

Rather see her in gold and purple than that period blood bammer color. Esp. at a UT/AU game, that's just sadistic. Although even that only bumps her down to a solid 9 or so.

Tennessee took Auburn's season outback and put it out of it's misery
jeeeesus
Pearl gets a pass on this year due to injuries anyone that says otherwise is just being obnoxious which, hey, go for it
I don't like Auburn either
Avery has done a lot of things in a year that was considered a throw away year that has people feeling positive about the program
the end result it similar - hey welcome to Alabama Basketball which exists to punch anyone that cares about it in the dick - but there were big wins this year that sporadically energized the fan base but we could never sustain the momentum
the mantra going forward is the same for both teams - get healthy get talent on the court try again next year
