Your AD cannot hire Butch Davis, not after hiring Petrino. The first sign of any NCAA violations would cost him his job if he hired Davis.

Disposed Penn State DC Tom Bradley

I think Gus is flat out absolute garbage.

I HATE guys who get hired based off of the success of some gimmick system that depends heavily on the one or two guys running it.
you could argue and say most offenses depend on how talented the QB and RB are.
Malzahn's problem was a QB with no experience who wasn't ready to play.

Tressel must serve 4 more years on a show cause

I read an article last night on Sports Illustrated that said his show cause penalty is actually pretty weak.
Here is the main blurb that talks about it in the article:

But the COI blew it in Tressel's case. The committee gave Tressel a five year show-cause, but the penalty only has teeth for the first five weeks of Tressel's first season, when he must miss games. He also must miss that season's bowl game. Tom, I saw your team on TV this season. We could reanimate Vince Lombardi, put him on your sideline and your team might not make a bowl game in 2012. So Tressel's postseason ban is essentially meaningless in your case. Basically, you can get one of the best coaches in the history of the game, and all it will cost you is five games and a progress report submitted to the NCAA every six months. Tressel can still recruit. He can still hire a staff. All he has to do is sit out five weeks of meetings, practices and games.

Yeah, because most teams these days have a Cam Newton or Darren McFadden lying around just waiting to be put under center and told "make some shite happen".
Give Gus a good, not great team with a standard drop back QB and toss in decent RB/WR and obviously he flirts with the .500 mark on the season. But oh shite, give him one of the best athletes that goes down as one of the best ever in SEC and he wins championships.... Do I need to add the "You don't say" meme?
If the success of the teams he coaches are totally dependent upon finding some of the greatest college football players of all time and not setting up a working system that utilizes a number of different players that can be used year and year out, don't you think he'll wash out?

you really think that's how the O works?

yeah because his scheme relies around a mobile QB with a good arm. Last year he had the mobile part for Frazier wasn't ready to play.
shite Malzahn went 8-5 with Chris Todd as his QB who has average mobility.

no because it doesn't. Your view on his offense is wayyyy too simplistic. He just needs the same things as any other Coach but add in a QB who has above average mobility. His scheme is less dependent on superior freaks than you seem to think.

This morning and this afternoon, two independent sources have told us that Arkansas AD Jeff Long has already spoken with current UAB head coach, and former Arkansas offensive coordinator, Garrick McGee about taking over as head coach at Arkansas.
Both sources told us that Long and McGee discussed keeping the existing staff intact.
The two sources we spoke with both felt that McGee would have no problem retaining Paul Petrino as offensive coordinator and both felt that Paul would stay.
McGee has his UAB team in Spring ball right now (Spring game is on the 21st). Given this timing, we expect nothing to be said publicly until UAB completes Spring ball; but both sources felt that McGee would be announced as the new head coach shortly thereafter.
Clearly this is a fluid situation; but that's what we've been told by two sources.

That's a Petrino move right there.

Please please please hire Garrick McGee.
That would reunite the fanbase the way Petrino did when he got here.
PLEASE!!!!!!

Garrick's by far our best choice right now.
BY FAR. I don't give a shite about his lack of experience. He's been around Petrino almost his entire coaching career and understands just how it is ran.
PLEASE make this happen Long.

This is my thoughts exactly. I would rather have an unproven assistant that knows how the program is run and the work ethic required then some mid level rising star coach that would have to come in and revamp everything we have in place.
