what? Sewell had a sub 3 ERA in SEC play last year and was Tennessee’s second most used arm out of the pen.

He didn’t allow a base runner in 2 innings of relief against this Texas team in Omaha last year. Didn’t have it tonight and made a really bizarre decision throwing to third but not sure how your comment makes any sense.

First big game of the year statement time. I used to throw 9 innings all the time. Big effin deal. Sports are soft now.

I will say, I’m pretty impressed with Texas. They have played absolutely perfect.

What are you talking about? Everyone posting in this thread has a Rod Delmonico jersey in their closet.

Burns was the highest ranked HS arm in PG’s rankings to go to school. If you want to keep getting those guys, extending them in a March showcase game to “make a statement” might not be the best idea.

A single game in March is not statement time in a baseball season.

Sewell laid a tied and Ortega with a bad error. Need some baserunners.

All I said is “its really important for a pitching staff to have more than one quality pitcher.” If you want to infer more than that from it be my guest.

Burns should have been out there all game.

Can somebody help me try to educate these baseball ignorant Vol fans. I could use the help.

Pitch count is everything. Burns threw well, 25 pitches in the 2nd inning. Strikeouts are cool ("Chicks like the long ball"), but they get the pitch count up. Early March, on a cool night, I wouldn't expect to see anybody over ~ 90 pitches.

Texas routinely goes deep in the count, looks at a lot of strikes. Frustrating at times, but its always been that way.

Sounds like something someone with low self-esteem would do.
