I realize you feel clever as frick right now and you probably wouldnt understand since its been awhile for you but championship gear usually runs its course within a week or so.
Some baw isnt sitting around in March thinking, "Damn I need a shirt that shows that we won the 2019 national championship."
Hence the discounts to get rid of excess inventory after the initial first wave of purchases.

Alabama's 2017 win was the 6th most-watched all-time and 2nd highest last decade. Would say trending up, but Alabama's used to being the most-watched.

None of this has anything to do with the title of being America's Team.
It's about being the most talked about, most-watched, national name brand, the most famous coaches. It's about casual or non-CFB fans knowing Alabama its players and coaches...much like the Cowboys, Yankees and Lakers.
Even in games not involving Alabama, Alabama is still talked about. Everything is tied back to Alabama, whether Alabama wins the championship or not, it's all relative to Alabama as the gold standard in CFB.
And of course historically, Alabama has the numbers.
