Maybe the officer in question pressed charges. In that case, NOPD would have no choice but to issue a warrant/summons. I'm just guessing.

My questions are, why in the hell were there police in a locker room immediately after a game? Is this common? What are they there to do?

Is this assault...?

How about this...?

I'm saying that if it wasn't a big enough deal for the cop to arrest him when it happened then it's not a big enough deal for him to do it now.

Odell is lucky, anyone else did that, they’d get their arse beat and arrested and no one would care... “play stupid games”

But if not for criminals being such terrible shots, NOLA would be murder city usa. Surprised they’d even waste their time with this.

Didn't the cops come initially to get LSU to stop lighting cigars or some stupid shite? You'd think they'd let them get away with a little bit more considering where the game was located etc. Someone was feeling the power

The lack of Aggies in this arse-slapping thread is concerning.

OBJ is dumb. But are cigars really that big of a deal in the first place to start all this?

Bama hotboxes our own or UT's locker room every year. I get it's a neutral site but cmon let the kids have fun.

I think that most would agree that it was stupid for the cops to try and bust players for smoking celebratory cigars, and I think that most would also agree that it was stupid for OBJ to slap a cop on the arse.

Oh I totally agree. OBJ made a damn fool of himself all night. Which comes as a shock to absolutely no one

Especially not in a city where crime is running rampant.

Unless the guy that got his butt slapped in NOPD it will end fine for them unless they go overboard from here. I've read that the slapee is a private security guard.

Going on that assumption, if he went to the magistrate (or whatever they call it in Louisiana) and signed a warrant the NOPD is duty bound to enforce it.

Now the one way NOPD can mess up is to make a deal out of it. Call his agent, walk him through the processing, and walk him out the back door. No muss no fuss.

It looks like OBJ slapped him pretty hard.
Could you image if he pulled out his weapon thinking someone was going for it?

can you imagine being the lonely cop that's attempting to arrest OBJ in a room full of LSU football players. i don't think it would bode well for the cop in that scenario.

my thoughts, though, is that the video got out, the cop is embarrassed about it and this is his vengeance.

Does the NOPD not have bigger priorities

probably didn't like seeing the video all over social media and had to do something

On a side note, odell is probably looking forward to a couple of nights in lockup

on a side note, what will likely happen is Beckham goes back to New Orleans, turn himself in, goes through booking and will bond out without ever spending 5 minutes in a jail cell. He got charged with simple battery and he's got plenty of money to post the nominal bond that will be set.
