Class B felony in Tennessee:
Not less than eight (8) nor more than thirty (30) years in prison. In addition, the jury may assess a fine not to exceed twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000), unless otherwise provided by statute
They will probably get probation.

Actually, these dudes should be toast. Goodbye to bad trash

Just heard a report on the radio here. Hope this isn't a repeat, I don't have time to read this whole thread. Janzen was in a car with the other 2 guys and a girl. The other 2 guys committed armed robbery and the victims had nothing on them. Janzen yelled from the car "Let's get out of here". They were stopped and arrested shortly after. The girl in the car had marijuana on her.
Lane Kiffin will have a press conference later today about all this. Kiffin has bragged about not having any players arrested during his tenure.
What I find funny about this is Janzen Jackson's character. Anyone who leaves a Coach and program hanging till the last day of recruiting the way he did to CLM and LSU has major character and integrity issues. Janzen just blew his whole NFL career up. Now we get to see if Kiffin will do the right thing and kick these guys off the team so they can go play for Jacksonville State.

As SFP said, people don't go to federal prison for breaking a state law. They are, however, facing very serious felony charges from the state of Tennessee. But, in all likelihood, they will plead to something or get Youthful Offender status, and not face a huge amount of time.
The pellet gun thing is irrelevant. They held themselves out as it being a real gun, and what is important is that the victim thought it was real. It probably will factor in to the DA's decision whether or not to be a hard arse, though.
This is what a Tennessee DA had to say
quote:
The range for a first time offender is 8-12 years, and it is not a probatable offense, meaning the legislature has said that it is too serious to get probation. You can get a 7.2 year sentence as a mitigated offender, but that is the best case scenario if convicted as charged.
This is serious. In Memphis, where I practice, aggravated robbery is a no deals case, meaning the DA will not reduce the charges unless there is an ethical issue or a serious legal issue with the case. These guys are looking at a minimum of a few years in jail.

Hmmmm I just can't wait to see how the UT fans some how some way find a way to blame Fulmer for this.
Maybe this is all part of Kiffins genius plan.

Not really. The DA is saying they are going to prison for sure. They pretty much screwed up their shot at college and the NFL.
eta: n/m I see what happened there.

Honestly... I think this helps Kiffin.... on a personal level.... I believe all the UT fans will band behind him... feeling sorry for him....
HOLD ON.... ITS BREAKING ON SC...........
anyway..... Lots of peeps have said he prolly wont make it past year 3 here.... only cause his schedule is too hard over that period for him to win enough to satisfy these fans...... This may give him an edge........

I'm happy the rant. After the tough loss and questionable calls against Bama, they needed this.
