So Brian Kelly at Notre Dame is considered great and acceptable if this is the standard?
You asked if Sarkisian would keep his job, not if he was great. Who has said Sarkisian is great other than you?
Both Kelly and Sarkisian have made the playoffs twice. Sarkisian has made it the last two years in a row while Kelly has made it once in the last six.
No one will consider either great unless they win multiple national championships.

All of Brian Kelly’s playoff and major bowl wins are equal.
Equally imaginary.

Great was the wrong word choice. That's my bad.
I would just expect Sark to start catching a lot of heat much like Kelly did if he continues to lose semifinal matchups.

crapdalton makes contradictory "points" and is then forced to crawfish and deflect.
His next post will be some type of projection.
Typical, like clockwork.

I am sure if he comes close but doesn’t seal the deal there will be some grumbling.
But it would be lunacy for any AD to fire a coach who is regularly making the playoffs.
The fact is, regardless of what he does, some fans will want him fired. Some Alabama fans called for Saban to be fired at various times over the years. There aren’t many game threads here when someone doesn’t demand their coach be fired immediately. The best threads are when one fanbase calls for their coach’s head in the first half, but they come back in the second half and the other side demands their coach be fired.
Remember, people here live and die possession by possession. If a team scores they can’t lose, if they have to punt they are doomed. This place is the world champion of overreactions.
If any of these top paid coaches go 5 years without a playoff appearance though, chances are they will be fired/forced out.

There are many coaches that will never make the playoffs. Will there be a better HC out that would want to give a try and take a gamble?

What if they go 22 years without winning any postseason game of significance?

Kelly made the semifinals when that was the first playoff game
Sark making the semis requires at least one win and sometimes two. If he keeps doing that he should be safe. Means his teams are consistent top 5-8 squads and in position to win it all.
Sark made it twice in power conferences and Kelly has made it as an Indy
We all know it’s not the same (I’m knocking Freeman here too).

That is correct. And their pay reflects that.
The top ten or twelve highest paid are held to a higher standard
The expectations for Alabama football are higher than they are for Kentucky football; just as expectations for Kentucky basketball are higher than they are for Alabama basketball.

Scott Woodward will give them a $100 million dollar contract that is 90% guaranteed.

And the contract is now a bargain, relatively speaking.
Woodward just needs to fight the urge to give an extension/raise if Kelly makes the playoff, this season. That was the mistake that A&M made after the COVID season.

Brian Kelly's buyout with LSU is a substantial $61,738,333 according to the Daily Advertiser. This buyout is second-highest in the SEC, only behind Kirby Smart of Georgia. The buyout is structured to be paid in monthly installments over the remaining term of his contract, which runs through December 31, 2031.
No way you guys got $60M, you can’t move him until that’s below $20M at least.

No longer 2nd highest
Kirby ($118 mil), DeBoer ($70 mil), and Sark ($64 mil) are all higher than Kelly ($62 mil) heading into 2025 season.
Seems about right on the SEC hierarchy.

Kirby, Sark and Debour have all won big games. Kirby may have beat you-know-who in one.

LSU is 4th best program in SEC. They have 4th highest contract buyout. Seems about right.

Like many others, Brian Kelly isn’t exactly certain how the new College Sports Commission enforcement entity will ultimately implement change in the post-House settlement era.
But the LSU head football coach is confident the majority of his coaching peers will follow the new rules regulating revenue-sharing and third-party NIL deals. And, if they don’t, Kelly is hopeful the College Sports Commission and new CEO Bryan Seeley will have the teeth to drop the hammer when necessary.
How did LSU ended up having one of the top recruiting classes and one of the latest top recruing classes? No cheating going on for LSU and the coaches?
This came from this site. on3.com.
