I concluded entering 2024 that we were good enough to make the playoff with an at-large, had we not blown the USC, A&M, and/or Florida games, we are in but that's life in college football.

How did we blow the A&M (15 point loss) and Florida (11 point loss) games? What about the Ole Miss and South Carolina wins?

We were closer to 6-6 the 8-4 …

Because BK is the LSU HC.

He’s a high floor, low ceiling, boring, unlikable coach. Could be better; could be worse. We’re in purgatory …. We’re Iowa or Wisconsin. Decent. Not great. It is what it is.

What is the argument that he can't win a natty based on?

It’s not that he can’t. My grandmother, technically, could. It’s that he won’t.

What would it take for you to consider him a great coach ?

He has to win a natty IMO.

Look what happened when Ed Orgeron was fired when he had no chance to fix the problem when COVID-19 disrupted the normal routine. Then he had not been given another year to fix his mistakes the following year. Then hiring BK who couldn't beat Kirby Smart that Ed Orgeron was able to beat him. Then there are some bad losses and 3 straight opening losses in a row. Will this be BK last chance to win a championship to keep his job?

What about .697 and .739?

I was looking at the numbers quoted. Yes .739 is measurably better than .697

Not a fan boy but don't get the Kelly hate. Reserve the hate for douchebags like Kiffin and guys claiming to be choirboys like Freeze.

And of the three Orgeron was a better Coach than he was given credit for.

I get lost between he’s trying to make a good point, to questioning if he’s dragging out a bad take.

They do not appreciate the fact that BK brought them back from
Irrelevance.

BK gets a lot of hate because of his personality. He is unlikable for sure

He's won over 70% of his games at three separate programs, it's hard to argue that's "mediocre".

A mediocre coach should absolutely win 70% of his games at a top 20 program. LSU fans argue that LSU is a top 10 program, so he should be expected to win more than 70% of his games. A winning percentage of 70% puts him at 8.4 regular season wins per season. That means 8-4 and 9-3 regular seasons, which is what Kelly has done at LSU. Top programs can sleep walk to 6 wins per season. That leaves 6 games against more competitive teams. Kelly has gone .500 against those, losing many in blow out fashion. He very rarely if ever lays an egg and loses to a directional school. But he also rarely if ever beats top 10 ranked schools.

Half the coaches in the SEC could go at least 8-4 at LSU. What does that say about Kelly?

Man talk about bad blood between LSU and ND brewing out of no where, with the media comparing coaches. I don’t even understand how we got here.

It’s bad blood from them

I laugh at them. Some do them mad snarky comments at the Sugar Bowl. They really don’t like the fact that he left them

Because he has never won one and he turns 64 this season.

In the modern era the oldest a coach was when he won his first national championship was age 63. That was Bobby Bowden. Only two coaches have won their first at age 60 or older, Harbaugh at 60 and Bowden at 63.

In the modern era, no coach has ever won his first national championship at age 64 or older. Coaches capable of winning a national championship almost always do it between their late 40’s and mid 50’s.

So, the reason we don’t think Kelly will win a national championship is because he has not shown he has the ability to win a national championship. And now he is approaching retirement age. LSU gave him a golden parachute though, so don’t feel bad for him.

Why are so many coaches not doing so then?

He's something like 3-4 vs top 10 teams at LSU.

We were up 17-7 after 2 and a half quarters and couldn’t stop turning the ball over and couldn’t stop Marcel Reed

Look at the box score of that game, we DOMINATED every facet of that game except the scoreboard and scoring TDs
