Honestly, we wouldn't have won that game no matter what...

I completely disagree. We had 37 days to put together an offense to beat what we saw in the first game. You know? Adjustments, like Bama actually went ahead and did.

We didn't do anything at all to help ourselves. Meanwhile, Les and his halftime adjustment thoughts... LINK

Saban has been pretty dominant at Alabama. 2 national titles (2009, 2011) and he was 1 quarter away from playing for 3rd (2008). With his recruiting prowess and the backing at Alabama he is going to keep winning at a high level.

I think Tennessee has done an excellent job of dominating the conference. Now, with Coach Summitt on the down slope, it remains to be seen how long it will last.

Pat Henry will be the dominant SEC coach... again

Florida was rolling, is that who you're referring to? Things change quickly, Bama (and LSU for that matter) should enjoy the ride and realize it wont be there forever.

And what I find truly baffling is that we ran the exact same offense that failed to pick up a first down against Georgia. Nothing was changed.

Not unless 3 or 4 of the top programs are all saddled with terrible coaches or major sanctions at the same time, and one of the other top programs is hitting on all cylinders (kind of like what Bama is doing right now).

It wouldn't last very long even in that case. Most SEC schools refuse to put up with mediocrity for very long.

Agree. Hell, right now, bama is generally considered the strongest program in the SEC and only has 1 SEC championship in the last 12 years. LSU, AU, FL, and UGA all have more in that period.

I doubt a team wins three in a row any time soon. The league is way too stacked.

Not any time soon.........but we did it in 93, 94, 95, and 96

Also, the last time an SEC champion repeated the next year was 1997-1998 with UT.

So in 15 years only 1 SEC has won two championships in a row. Before that, UF won 4 in a row and AU won 3 in a row.

Bama's last back to back was under Bryant and UGA's was under Dooley with Hershel Walker.

LSU's last time was 1935-1936.

Florida was rolling because of Tim Tebow. Look at how disjointed that offense became in 2010 without him. The Gators ran an offense that required a quarterback to make the plays, to know when to get rid of the ball, and where to get rid of it to. Brantley was talented but he just wasn't a quarterback for that system.

I think Alabama and LSU will last longer because they run offenses that don't place too much reliance on the quarterback position. They win with a balanced running attack and a solid defense. So long as you recruit well, that kind of philosophy will always win.

we needed good fortune once last year to make it to atlanta....it may not be like that in 2012...its a whole new ballgame...

Mettenberger has some proving to do first I know he played some JUCO not sure how much he played at UG but I would not put all my money on him just coming into this role on the team and being a leader for your offense! As much as these LSU players are confused and have lost some confidence in their coach. Bama may just be in their heads now! But LSU has the best chance to go all the way and the fans and players would be well deserved of it after the let down in 2011!

I think he is talking about the Florida of the mid 90's, when we went back-to back-to back-to back in SEC titles. Tebow wasn't even a teenager then.

Kajun gator u sound like a closet Gump. Love the past. If not for Tebow u don't win much. No one will detonate the sec for years to come. It's just too tough to win year after year.

Florida definitely dominated the SEC from 2006-2009 so that's a false statement.

If anything, I think the Bama game may be etched in stone in these players' minds. They lost in the big game, but remember that they have won 2 of the last 3 games from Bama.

edit- yeah, the league is way too good to dominate by any one team. Arky the last several years is proof- they have NO hardware, but easily could have been a title team both years had they played in other conferences.

I don't disagree with this one bit. My post was in response to the statement that we (UF) were only dominant because of Tebow. Tebow was on two SEC championship teams....we went 29-6 while he was at UF. The stretch I keep mentioning (that you say makes me like a closet bama fan) we went 34-2 for those 4 seasons with 4 SEC titles in a row.

We dominated the SEC in the mid 90's. We did NOT dominate the SEC under Tebow. We just had a great run.

Ah. The scary thing about Florida in the mid-90s is that they were dominating the SEC...but were still only the third best team in the state.

Just goes to show you that the SEC hasn't always been dominant.
