Between personal issues, injuries, loyalty so certain assistant coaches (or lack of financial support from FSU to hire the best) and a few gaps in recruiting(OL) resulted in a bad season. Jimbo saw greener grass and left. It was not a decade program destroying situation. FSU just made one of the worst hires possible and compounded their issue.

I think it was Lamar Jackson that put the nail in the coffin if I remember correctly. Scored like 63 points. I can’t remember which team put jackson in check after he won the heisman though.

Yeah, Bobby Bowden had nothing to do with building the FSU program.

I have a good friend who sits on several executive boards at FSU. He is involved in a lot of behind the scenes stuff there. Basically it was a combo of numerous factors. Personal issues, lack of a grip on the program towards the end and FSU athletics also not willing to spend

They were in a downward spiral Jimbos last two years

They went 10-3 with an Orange Bowl win and finished #8 in his second to last season.

But as the head coach, Isn't Jimbo responsible for all of those things?

That's really pretty underwhelming when you realize they were in the ACC and had the most talent of anyone in the conference.

Losses were to Clemson twice, Louisville, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Houston.

I wonder if it was partly personal issues affecting his job. If my wife was banging rival schools’ players, it might show up it my job performance

In all honestly, this had a lot to do with it.

Jimbo built the FSU program, and has had an impressive run of Conference and National titles at A&M.

Not sure why I am choosing to respond to you, but here goes.

Yes, yes he is. He can't control the FSU spend or his wife being a whore, but he is in charge of winning games regardless.

If his blemish is one bad season in a now 12 year resume, I think we got a pretty good one.

It’s recruiting. Before Jimbo left they landed guys like Cam Akers and Marvin Wilson.

They’re not even in the running for those types of guys anymore

I can’t believe they have Travis hunter locked down

FSU thought their their brand was so big they didn't have to adapt to the times and Jimbo fought with the school to get better facilities and I think more money for his coaches. I think he saw Clemson really investing heavily in their football program under Dabo and FSU was sitting on their hands he quit trying because he knew Clemson was going to dominate.

This is probably true.

Explains why he was reportedly so pissed when LSU left him at the altar in 2015.

This is a sports message board, sports (and their coaches) are discussed here.

I find it odd that anytime Jimbo is brought up, Aggies justify Jimbo by comparing him to Orgeron, who is also not a great coach.

You shouldn't act surprised when people see your threads about Fisher and reply by bringing up Orgeron. If you are going to cherry-pick a coach's resume, be prepared for that fanbase to go after your coach.

I'm sure he did, looks like it worked out the best for everyone in the end.
