NIL contracts ruined the bowl games. Not the playoffs.

Agents advise players to opt out. The players are agreeing to play the regular season for a certain amount of money then when the player ask for more to play in a meaningless bowl game, the schools say "whats the fricking point in us paying you more to play in a nothing bowl"
Schools are willing to pay when its a playoff opportunity

Write bowl participation into their NIL deals.

Nevermind the fact that there are 568 bowl games

Just field non-NIL players and compete to represent the Universities like back in the day

Transfer portal is making it worse

Make bowl participation part of the deal. Also, don't get the money till the season is over. Or most of it anyway.

An obvious exaggeration but the point is well seen. There are 41 bowl games total. In 1995, some 30 years ago, there were just 18.

And Beamer would still frick up an invite to one of them.

NIL, the playoffs and the portal all need to go away

The bowl games are less meaningful than the one you people have been saying was meaningless for the last 24 hours.
Why would I go play the outback bowl when Alabama can be boat raced in every phase of the game for their third loss in a conference title game and successfully argue that it was a meaningless game? Especially when my outback bowl game doesn't lead anywhere and doesn't even earn a conference title?
