Gus coached a championship caliber team to 4 losses last year. And y’all gave him $49M as a reward.

To be fair they gave him that amount just for beating Bama. If they lost all their games except for the iron bowl then that would be a successful season for them.

2014: Auburn's DB turned QB torches Bama for 450 plus yds passing but Auburn forgets how to guard Cooper...barely wins

Alabama was winning by 3 touchdowns with 25 seconds to play in the 4th quarter

What was the final score? The game was much closer than the score says.

Auburn wins in Tuscaloosa in the last 100 years
2000 - 3-9 Alabama team
2002 - Fran basically quit before the game, 3 loss team
2004 - 6-7 Alabama team
2006 - 6-7 Alabama team
2010 - worst Alabama team of the "good" Saban era, 3 loss team

Auburn losses in Tuscaloosa in the last 100 years
2008 - 1 loss Alabama team (won by 38)
2012 - 1 loss Alabama team (won by 49)
2014 - 2 loss Alabama team (won by 11)
2016 - 1 loss Alabama team (won by 18)

So basically, if Alabama is a Top 5 team we never lose to Auburn in Tuscaloosa. And the games aren't even close when we are good. Auburn can only beat our worst teams in Tuscaloosa. Makes me feel a whole heck of a lot better about this year.

Thanks man

Alabama led the entire 4th quarter and led by double digits for most of it. Alabama did not "almost lose".

So pretty much Saban cant beat any good Auburn QB with a pulse and is essentially 2 possesions away from being 5-6 vs Auburn

Quit not having a pulse every three out of four years.

This just makes Auburn look bad. Considering he’s 9-7 versus Auburn. So more than half the times he’s faced Auburn, AU couldn’t manage at least 9 wins. In an era of 12 game regular seasons. Pathetic

Those cross division games of Tenn and Vandy are rough.

Bama had to come back and win, Bama had 6 pt lead at the start of the 4th.

Close Game overall...

A game in which you lead for the entire 4th quarter, most of it by double digits including the entire last 10 minutes, is not a game you "almost lost".

If you win the weed wacker bowl against Arizona State you will end up with 7-8 wins.
The question is irrelevant.

Vanderbilt hasn’t been a cross divisional matchup since 2002.

Look guys, I thought we had established all this. The way this era of Alabama/Auburn games work is pretty simple

- 1 time every 4 years Auburn had a magical run and beats a Top 2 Alabama team in Jordan Hare, ruining our season (well, sometimes) and winning themselves the West

- Alabama wins the games in Tuscaloosa and every other year in Auburn.

- Alabama's wins are boring but more frequent. Auburn's wins are insane and exciting but much less frequent

That's the way this works. DEAL WITH IT.

Luckily the barn only has one instance of back to back 10 win seasons in their entire history, 1988-89

I think this is the only stat in this thread that matters. That’s just nuts, pure insanity. I don’t think any singular stat or fact better illuminates the essence of Auburn football than this. A proud program that has outperformed what you would expect, absolutely. But the success is just a few instances of random, miracle type shite rather than building a program the right way, sustaining success on a strong foundation, and therefore winning big. Christ, was Cox the last homegrown QB who won any games?
