So, he brought Kiffin in with the singular mission to mesh his West Coast offense with a no huddle, matchup specific system. And that's what Kiffin did.
And then pushed him out so he could ultimately take credit for it himself. Typical Saban.
Oh well, Karma caught up with him in the 2016 title game so I guess it's water under the bridge now.

Hahaha, I know. I was kidding, but he still seems like a decent guy.

He pushed out Lane Kiffin after Kiffin had already gotten a head coaching job and been the center of roughly 75 puff pieces about being an offensive genius to........take credit for the offense?
Wut?

C'mon really? Not even you can be THIS naive about the actual timeline of things.

So you think that Saban told Kiffin to find a new job knowing he'd then push him out before the title game all so he could then claim credit for.......the offensive system?

Fact.

I mean I agree Kiffin was told after the SECCG it was time to find a new job. I don't quite agree with the purpose of it, nor does it make much sense, and I certainly don't agree Saban knew he'd suck against Washington so he could fire him before Clemson?

You really don't think Saban wanted him gone well before that? OK, enjoy your fantasy world.

ahh, you know how these dorks are. They'll say anything just to try to irritate Alabama fans. Their team can't beat Alabama so they'll take what little they can get.

I think he decided the relationship had run its course at some point during the 2016 season, yes.
I don't think he planned to fire him between playoff games until the Washington game, no.

Welp. I tried to help you out. Give you a starting point.
No worries, the South Carolina guy answered the question directly. I don't do Reddit.

KennesawTiger, no offense but you sound insane.

that, imo, was one of Saban's biggest mistakes. I think Kiffin would have at least been good for one more decent drive, and one less 3 and out, in that game. That would have precluded Clemson scoring in the last second.

Unsurprisingly, SOG speaks to the actual context of what was said with stats to back it up. Still a rant superstar...

correct
but the point is that maybe don't make statements like

'Is this what we want football to be?'"
and then do that exact thing that you seem to abhor

It's called adapting.
Something LSU didn't do and it's why they are now Bama's bitch.

Yep. Because he didn't really care for the way football was changing, he should have just sat back and let offenses pass him by. Like Les.

no. The point is that Saban tried to get the ncaa to change certain rules that favored that type of offense. When he was unsuccessful at getting enough other support, he said screw it, and adapted his offensive philosophy to take advantage of it. As previously noted, it's the kind of thing successful coaches do.
