Let's see... Pearl was hired less than 3 months after Auburn made a NCG appearance, but 'muh Saban'. New arena. Needed to finally get a real coach. Midget boy didn't have anything to do with it.

OP's an idiot.

This is true, AU grabbed Pearl at the perfect time and he's has done a great job. I wanted Bama to get Pearl but I our uptight Admin wouldn't have touched him.

I really think Saban has killed Bama BB. No only by having the school neglect the program and constantly putting "lipstick on a pig" with Coleman, but there is not any fan interest and excitement for the program until after Bowl season and before last year February's recruiting signing period. By then the season is half over and most of the fans are talking about A-day. Oats is probably the only one on campus who wants Saban to retire. Because if he doesn't do it soon, he knows he will fall to the same death as Grant and Avery.

I don't know if it's Saban's fault that the Bama Admin won't level Coleman & build new, but there has definitely been a resistance to put massive $$ into BB facilities.

Kinda like why Auburn still hasn't built a football only facility and hasn't done a much needed JHS renovation? It makes not sense for an Admin to be so short sighted relative to athletic facilities just because the program isn't competing at an elite level currently.

You must have bookmarked that post, because I posted it months ago.

AU hasn't built the football only facility because I think at this point it would be seen as a reward to Gus. If they have to hire a new coach, they can dangle that carrot in front of any candidate. Improvements to JHS are needed, but that is for the fans only. As long as fans keep coming, the improvements will be on the backburner.

Playoff football teams aren’t football schools? Especially ones that have never missed the playoff?

I’m jealous of AU BBall. I’m 10x more hungry for Bama Basketball success than Bama football success currently

Alabama has had an elite softball program for nearly two decades.

The Clemson hill other SEC fans try to stand on is just funny to me. Alabama ran over the SEC last year before meeting Clemson. What does this say about the rest of the SEC? They’ve won 5 of 7 SEC titles and are the hands down favorites for 2019.

12 years before Nick Saban:

Auburn had won 8 of 12 games

12 years of Nick Saban:

Alabama has won 8 of 12 games with 2 shutouts and several blow out wins spanning 3 Auburn coaches. In the 12 games under Saban Alabama has been ranked #1 or #2 10 times. My how things have changed.

We are going to put 50 on Gus yet again this year.

Auburn lucked into Pearl just like Gumps lucked into Saban.

Irons, the AU Administration is short sighted if they delay a football only facility because of the current HC. Facility upgrades are needed to keep up with the rest of the programs in this conference.

To “dangle” a football facility in front of a new Candidate is ridiculous when Gus pledged $2MM of his on skin into it.

Hell, AU promised Butch big baseball renovations when they hired him and STILL haven’t done shite. And they recently put the baseball improvements in hold after he just took them to the CWS.....

It is going to get built, but again the Gus issues last year delayed it some.
The BB renovations will happen also, but AUs biggest problem is everything is BOTs approved and that process causes delays. Bama's BOT just rubber stamps anything brought to them by the AD if it involves Football. AU has to debate about it over 2-3 quarterly meetings.

Since Auburn has beaten Saban more than any other School in the SEC you should get to work and do your part. Bruce Pearl made Auburn a Basketball powerhouse not Saban.

Why hasn’t AU honored the promises they made to Butch when they hired him? Still waiting on the BOT after three years?

It has been approved but some changes were made, so now they are going thru the entire process for review of changes. That is how Auburn works.

This is based on opinion only, not facts. It also makes no sense.

Who would start to clean up their house to sell only after a buyer is found?

I remember Jacobs going back to the drawing board several times and even in the wake of Auburn’s first NC in 50 yrs, that BOT still wouldn’t stamp the JHS renovations for approval. That was almost ten years ago.
