Saban has won an undisputed National Championship 5 times. He has won 25% of all National Championships awarded since he became a collegiate head coach (20 seasons). All hail THE GOAT!
Saban > Bear

I agree but Bear did it primarily with home grown Bama boys.

Saban would coach circles around Bear. What's he's doing is astounding giving all the restrictions that are in place now.

It's not even close to an argument at this point.
Saban is the best college coach of all time. To dominate the sport in this era of parity is unbelievable. His recruiting is clearly the best in history and his program management and ability to have his teams buy in to his philosophy are masterful.
Congrats to Bama. Hope he retires soon or has an aching desire to coach the Giants.

I thought a lot about it last night.
I'm old enough to have seen and remember Bear's second great run (Major Ogilvie is the first Bama player I can remember well). It's hard to let go of things you cherish as a child, but there comes a point when you've got to do it.
Last night was that time for me. Bear will always be Bear, but Saban is tGOAT.

Is 2003 not disputed? I mean it is a split but we got the crystal ball.

Major was a running back

Saban and Kiffin were the difference last night.
Clemson was just as physical and just as fast.

Of course he was. I'm way too tired to be posting this morning.

I think he's undoubtedly the best coach of all-time, the greatest is still up for debate. I've always considered Bryant to be the greatest coach of all-time because he was #1 or #2 in literally every major category at his retirement. It's not just the national championships. He was #1 all-time in wins. Bowden and Paterno has since passed his him but their career winning percentages are vastly inferior. A .780 career winning percentage over a 38 year career is insane. He's #1 all-time in major bowl wins. He's #2 all-time in top five finishes. He has more than twice as many conference championships as the #2 coach in SEC history. His overall body of work is absolutely staggering.

I see no need to compare the two at all. Both the greatest of their time in Div 1 football.
