Saban locks down his coaches like Sandusky locks up his victims in his basement.

It's all part of the process of winning another championship.

If Nick did not think the Memphis job was right for McElwain, then he should have taken that up with McElwain..

I would find it hard to work for someone with Saban's attitude toward people.

You just made an arse out u and me.

so how does Saban give a review that is neither bad nor glowing? Did it sound something like "He wouldn't be a bad head coach, but yeah there are probably much better guys than him if you keep lookin, a'ite"?

No I didn't. It is all part of the process.

Yes you did

Its was a yes no question and you failed to answer it.

Here is the question again.

Do you think this makes a good boss? Or a happy employee?

This being an indifferent reference from $abun.

Figuratively before anyone gets up in arms they should take that as a compliment. Being able to get a job simple for working under saban.

I dunno. It doesn't make sense which tells me this bitch doesn't know what she's talking about.

Did anyone think that maybe McElwain pulled his name from the job because Fresno St. (the place he was before he came to Bama.) came open?

IDK I'm just using a little bit of logic. I know that's illegal here.

While I have serious skepticism about the veracity of this tweet (amazing what people will run with), the technique is called "damning with faint praise". You don't give an enthusiastic review of someone's job performance, which is enough to give an administrator/employer pause.

Miles did the opposite with getting rid of assistants.

He gets rid of them with high praise. "You gotta have this Crowton guy. He's a wizard!"

I'm sure this is 100% verifiable info, and will be scrutinized appropriately by the posters of the SEC Rant.

i don't ever recall any nonverifiable information on here. of course, it could be due to my short term memory problem...

Probably just looking out for him to keep him away from that shithole.

Honestly, his salary at bama as an OC is probably similar to the Memphis HC gig. Why risk it... But of course since he has been at Bama they have lost 6 games, won 2 division titles, 1 SEC, 1 NC, 1 Heisman and has another heisman finalist... but since he isnt Gus Malhzan he isnt worthy

Thats understandable

You make it sound so smart. Its not really. An employer could actually have a lawsuit on their hands if they give a bad review. (Not that it would happen in this case). However it does mean that lack of a great review means just the opposite.

Memphis would be a terrible HC job. One that there is little to no way to succeed. The men's football team used a high school field for practice up until last year or this year.

If in fact Saban did this, he saved McElwain's future.
