This x1000. The portal is the biggest problem and it isn’t/wasn’t even required by law like NIL. Revert to the old rule (sit out a year - with some less draconian guardrails) and I think we can get closer to what college sports were/should be.

You could make an argument that college is the same for aspiring athletes as it is for normal students. Professional football is a career path and is affected by where you attend school. Does anything restrict an engineering major from transferring from Alabama to Georgia Tech and taking full time courses? No, because no one gives a frick. So why should we restrict the movement of athletes? Because people want to jerk off to the illusion of loyalty?

and being paid to play...if we are paying them then we should be able to put them under a contract for their services.
