Yeah, had he taken a different job he’s probably still in the league.

Don't NFL coaches need to do more coaching than recruiting?

Why? The guy is winning with talent . The NFL needs guys who win with game planning. Kirby is like Saban , they are great recruiters which make them great college coaches .

Is Sexton the agent for Smart? If so, time to bring out the brinks truck.

Sexton can f*ck off. Smart got a huge raise last year of about 3 mill per year.

That is the case with every college coach. Recruiting is everything in college football. Look at the coaches who are thought of so highly. They are all great recruiters who are at places where it's easier to recruit.

Nah, let's keep Kirby where he is.

They might hire an actual coach with ingenuity and creativity with the insane amount of talent they have right now and that could be dangerous.

Would rather keep that vanilla playcalling and locker room problems culture developing in Athens.

First build the wall. Further a T. is not necessary, a BJ from your sig other (unless that be a man) and a sack of panhandle bay oysters would be a gracious aplenty. BTW, he ain't leaving. He should win the national title next year. Has by far the most talented roster in CFB with as many 5 stars as any other three teams combined. And is at the height of his coaching effectiveness. And the old guy west of him can't outrun nature. Aside from all that it is hard to get beat by an SEC east team. Hard.

Saban sucks in the NFL, his schtick only works with college kids.

He is a joke among professionals. Much like Petrino was with the Falcons.

Yeah. He was terrible as an assistant in Houston and DC in Cleveland.

Mullen is closing the gap and took a 4 - 7 team, then turned them into a NY6 blowout win.

Kirby took a 10 win team and turned them into an 8 - 5 team. Then in his third year had a blowout loss to a team he regularly outrecruited.

Then watched all of his players transfer and jump ship after they spent more time on Twitter rather than practicing.

Kirby's reign won't last that much longer. I give you guys a year until Mullen gets his players and especially his Quarterback. Enjoy your small uptick.

Was that a long winded way to say "wait til next year"

This is exactly what was being said about Muschamp. Mullen already had 8 years to show what he can do, and Kirby beat him 31-3 there too.

Every NFL team with an opening the last ten or so years disagrees. And the head coach of the Pats. But who knows you may be right. I lived in Houston when he was there and he was given near rock star treatment there by the local press. But yeah you'd probably know.

Well that didn't take long. One big Ten blowout and you guys are on the way to multiple national titles. First years are tricky. Changing cultures are even more tricky. Saban won the same number of games during his first season as did Shula who got fired. Then went 12-0 regular season and won the natty undefeated his third. With 90% Shula recruits the second and 16 of 22 starting the third.

Me thinks Kirby's drive and what he demanded from his players was quite a shock to their systems the first year. Hell I know it was.

It didn't take long before pretending like Kirby is Saban all over again.

Yeah, Kirby is Saban, you guys are just going to recruit your way to a championship.

And it's not just the Big Ten Blowout.

It's the fact that you lost a game to the same team in the same way two years in a row.

It's the LSU blowout despite having a top 3 team talent composite.

It's the Auburn blowout that you guys needed two tries to fix and them having their best player banged up.

This is called a trend, and I don't see why it's going to end any time soon unless Kirby magically becomes a more creative X's and O's coach.

LOL at using LSU/UF game when we did actually play head to head? Do you remember? Also lol at the Auburn comment,

Kirby can be a better coach than Mullen and still not be on the level of Saban, despite what your whole premise is.
